So i am planning my next build moving from my aging 6700k to probably 9800x3d rumored to launch by the end of next month or early november so i have chose an x870e f strix as the motherboard my question regarding the pcie x16 at the top if i ever decide to use the shared nvme slot that halves it's "pcie x16" bandwidth whill it work in x16 speed if i lock the x16 slot to gen 4? or will it still stay on 8x?
Asus is still my first choice never had an issue with my z170-ws.
