***UPDATE- New CPU has fixed the issue****
I just swapped from intel to AMD and having immediate issues. I removed a Tuf Z690, 13900k and DDR4 Ram. I installed a TUF X670E Plus, DDR5 Expo Gskill 32 CL30 ram and a 9800X3D. All brand new.
Upon installing new parts, I flashed Bios to 3057. I can enter Bios fine. I set Expo and Ram to 6000 in bios and thats it.
I booted from a USB to do a fresh windows install successfullly. Got into windows and started installing drivers. All went good there and smooth. During driver install i did a few reboots andnit was fine. During Asus audio driver install this was the 1st lock up.
Then the issues started happening. Windows would just freeze. No BSOD. Upon reboot, randomly it will Freeze on the "TUF" black screen, after where it asks to enter bios. Sometimes it will get into windows and then freeze as soon as it go to desktop.
Things ive tried so far
Tried 1 RAM stick at a time
Performed Bios flashback again.
Disabled expo and ran RAM and mobo at default settings
Cleared cmos after each of these.
Removed GPU.
Removed CPU inspect, all ok and reinstall
I am running 2 NVMEs. One in M2_1 and 1 in M2_4. I tried 1 at a time and each in M2_1. I have tried another fresh windows install from bootable USB. But now it locks up either during the windows install or i dont even get that far. Sometimes it will lock up at the big blue "setup screen"
Not sure what to do next. I dont have any other RAM i can try. Leaning towards this is a RAM or MOBO issue.
Here is the RAM label

Believe it or not, Ive never seen this before, I had the same freezing issue on my Strix X670e and R7 9800X3D, I diagnosed for days, only to find out my CMOS battery on the newly sealed board Asus shipped out was COMPLETELY dead. It also kept setting my BIOS settings to default, and booting slow and freezing/crashing, especially during windows install. After replacing the CMOS it has been working fine with zero freezes. Maybe something you can try? Should be a CR2032 battery.

I can try that. However, I have tried 2 brand new motherboards that experience the same issue. Chances of 2 dead are slim. Also bios doesnt revert to default at all unless i clear cmos. Ill grab the multimeter and test the batteries but dont think this is my problem.

Gotcha; didn't know you went through several boards already. In my experience, I haven't seen RAM be an issue that often, only thing left for me to think is that its a faulty CPU, or maybe there is a power delivery issue with the PSU to the board.

Im leaning towards a CPU. Im waiting on AMD to make a decision. Its not a PSU issue. It was working perfectly when i took it apart. I even went as far as puttin my intel mobo back in and everything worked perfect.

Gotcha; good on you swapping back and testing. Let me ask you, do you have a contact frame around the 9800X3D? I have seen in some cases if a contact frame is too tight or uneven it can cause contact issues making the PC freeze. If you are using the default bracket cage on the motherboard, Im also leaning towards faulty CPU. One more shot you could take, is go into Asus motherboard support webpage for your model, and look to see if your RAM is on their compatibility list. If it isn't, buy a compatible pair off Amazon, test it, and if the compatible RAM still has an issue, just return it. I have seen sometimes even thought the board specifies it can take RAM up to 7000mhz for example, your specific RAM model/serial isnt fully compatible or "approved" with the motherboard and causes issues. I know you said you only had 1 set of RAM; not sure if you tried others. If you try a compatible RAM from the list, and it still doesn't work.....yeah seems CPU.

No contact frame. 1st ram was a new 32gb gskill 6000 ddr5. The part#s were on the compatible list. I even tried 1 at a time. I then bought 32gb of corsair 6000 ddr5, also on the compatible list and the same issue is happening. There really isnt much else left other than the CPU that can be the issue unless im totally missing something. But this isnt my first rodeo, totally stumpes.

Yea, that's all I got....you tried everything. Good luck with AMD and a new CPU. 9800X3Ds are scarce now.

Appreciate the help. AMD approved the RMA of the CPU. Now we wait. I will update ASAP if this fixes the issue.

Nice! Maybe next response you'll be using your new build haha. Be sure to update either way; I'm curious.
