My Experiance with X670 VS Z690 using 4 sticks. AMD>Intel

Well what can I say AM5>Z690 (at least in my experience and 4 sticks). To go into more detail here goes.

So I had been going through DDR5 hell and it turned out it was my 2021 z690 Maximus Extreme. (I Tried many cpu's ram kits nothing) Until I swapped the board and bam a huge difference. I Could not get anything stable with 4x16 sticks on my 2021 board but the 2022 I managed to get up to 5800mhz with alot of tweaking. Upon every bios update the required tweaks to the voltages would need to be changed and cycled and memtested until a stable setting could be found.

Some examples for Intel I used a 12900KS for AMD 7950X . SP On the 7950X = 117 the 12900KS P = 103-4 and 77-78 on the E.

So for 2004 running XMPII @5800mhz and Tref @63328.

Dram VDD Volts 1.35V
IVR Transmitter 1.35V
Memory Controller Auto 1.296
SA .910 (prior on 1601 it was .9)

For 2103
Dram VDD/VDDQ 1.3! (An Improvement) Ironically at 1.35V it would fail memtest???)
IVR 1.35V
Memory Controller auto 1.296
SA.910

Now for AMD ( Same set of ram) on a X670E Crosshair Extreme. (BTW Uclck = 1:1)
Enable XMP set it to 6000mhz = just works LOOOOL
Set to 6200 + Fclck @2200 SOC voltage at 1.175V (Dropped it from the 1.3+) = LOL Just works..... Memory Controller @ 1.3V Manual (Auto bumps it to 1.4+) To match the Z690.

This is just INSANE how easy it is to run I can even go higher with another kit on 4X16 sticks I have tons of room to push past 6400mhz if I can manage 2200Fclck with 1.175V and 6200 = LOL I'm getting around 55NS and I have yet to touch any timings....

This is just nuts how bad z690 and 12th gen is compared to this platform. Well see how Z790 + 13th gen does..

What memory are you working with? I have a 7950X, Crosshair X670E Extreme, and CMT32GX5M2X6600C32 (claims 6600 MT/s possible). I haven't been able to push past 6000 MT/s with stability. I tried UCLK=MEMCLK and FCLK = 2200 without changing any voltages from auto and it's not stable at all. Would undervolting actually help with stability?

I've listed a bunch of voltages you need to tweak the voltages to find your stable settings then run memtest or other memory tests to make sure it's really stable. The voltages I listed are for my chip yours might need more/less in some areas or the same.

You got 4 sticks working with "XMP" settings (I assume you mean "EXPO"?) with no issues? Wow. On the factory BIOS I would BSOD even with my 4x32GB sticks running at 3600, and couldn't post at all trying to run them on EXPO settings (5200). On BIOS 0705 those same sticks are rock solid stable at the Auto 3600 speed, but I have not tried to enable EXPO on them (which would only run them at 5200 anyway). I tested the hell out of the current training and it's perfectly stable, afraid of losing it, but I guess next BIOS update I'll lose that training anyway so might as well try it then.

I'm not using EXPO Ram it's Corsair 6200 C36 Hynix MDie Kit. It's set to XMP II and the voltages adjusted. You need to adjust the voltages to find your stable setup with the timings you want to run. I have not tested 32GB sticks but I would suspect that would tank the speed down alot vs the 4x16 sticks I'm using.

If your afraid of loosing any stability just go save your current settings in the asus bios as a profile then test test test you can always reload your previous settings.

Since my last post I did try to run the 4x32 sticks on EXPO on bios 0705. Still won't post. Oh well. Will try it again on new BIOSes as they come out, but as long as I can keep the full 128GB stable, even if only at 3600, it's not a big deal to wait for the expo speed that some bios version will hopefully make possible someday.
