I have a ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU currently running Windows 11 Pro 23H2 on a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD and I'd like to know if anyone has been able to install Windows 7 successfully on this MB or similar MB? I've been trying to modify the Windows 7 installation USB thumb drive with USB 3.0 drivers but so far I haven't had any luck, probably wrong drivers.
I can boot from the USB thumb drive but when I get to the first screen the mouse and keyboard don't work. Mouse and keyboard work fine if entering BIOS area. I did trying using a USB 2.0 double cable that plugs onto one of the USB 2.0 headers on the MB but no go.
I did this years ago with an MSI X299 motherboard with Intel chipset using the Gigabyte USB Tool but that is for Intel only as far as I can tell and not AMD and it's many years old too. I did try it but still no mouse and keyboard at first screen.
My goal is to be able to dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 11. This is an easy task for older equipment and also this is my first AMD PC as well, so not very familiar with this newer setup.
I still have the Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD from the MSI PC that has both Windows 7 and 11 installed on it, but when I tried to boot from it, it failed and I wasn't able to repair it with Windows startup repair feature.
Thanks PB

No problem 🙂 . I'm waiting on a AM5 CPU, once that arrives I will try to get Windows 7 working on either Crosshair X670E Hero or TUF Gaming X670E-Plus WiFi and share how I get on.

The issue with Windows 7 is, it doesn't support USB 3 or NVMe drives without modified installation media. I've done this in the past for Intel geared motherboards but that didn't work for my new ASUS board with an AMD CPU. What you will probably find if using an original Windows 7 install media is the mouse and keyboard won't work once you get to the first window after booting from Windows 7 media.
I did find a modified Windows 7 iso that is supposed to support USB 3 and NVMe but haven't tried it out yet. It will have to wait until I have more time to sit and play with it.

No worries, I am aware. I did create an ISO to use on X370/X470, didn't try on X399 or X570. I was browsing the forum came across your post and thought yeah would like to try this on X670E.
