This might become my next mobo, doing a full DDR5 and PCIE4-5 upgrade.
But, having started to buy parts, I have selected the Samsung 990 Pro NVME drives, they come with heatsink. The heatsink is NOT detachable if you want to keep the warranty ..

So this leaves me wondering, are the heatsinks for the M.2 slots on the B650 motherboard detachable..? What I mean is sure you have to lift them to insert M.2 drives without heatsink, but in my case I don't think I can put them back due to the Samsung 990 Pro heatsink being in the way...

In almost all cases the heat-sinks will be completely removable. You can see from the manual and the screen snip you've shown there are Phillips heads holding it in place.
