BIOS 2403 not detecting 2nd NVME on ROG GEN-Z.2 for RAID 0 array

Hello guys, please help me.

I'm using a ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME BIOS 2403 with a 7800X3D.

Yesterday, November 2nd 2024 I updated the bios from version 2204 (released 2024/08/02) to Version 2403 (released 2024/09/27).

The flash was successful however, my RAID 0 array was disabled. The BIOS is not detecting the second NVME M2 SSD. I am using a ROG GEN-Z.2 with two SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4.

The BIOS will not detect the 2nd NVME card for any purpose, not even for non RAID use. It only detects one NVME card.

I reverted to the old 2204 BIOS and everything was working again. I recovered my RAID0 settings and could run windows 11 the same as before updating the BIOS to 2403.

I searched the forums and found no one with the same problem or any solutions.

Does anyone know if there's a setting that should fix this or if there's an incompatibility issue? I want to update the BIOS to newer versions so I can buy and use a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. But so far I can't because it will ruin my RAID 0 array setup.

Thanks!

You may have to reconfigure your raid setup in the bios. M.2-2 may be disabled  or SATA Mode w/AHCI enabled with the new BIOS.

I just swapped out a 7950X for the 9800X3D. BIOS V2403 required. I had no problems. However the 9800X3D did NOT outscore the 7950X in AIDA64 tests but was extremely close and a lot cooler on 120W rather than 170W. We'll see how it turns out in the flight Sim.

Are you using water cooling? Do you also have a RAID array?

I looked into the new setting in the BIOS and some other settings mentioned in some posts, AHCI settings included.

It was confusing but I spent about 4 hours trying to reconfigure somehow. But I could not get it to work.

I saw they released a new BIOS these days and I will try it but I'm still not ready for another possible 6h of trying to rescue my RAID array. I know RAID 0 is fringe and buggy but it's really nice to use it even if it only lowers load times a little bit. I'll hold out on a new 9800X3D until I can setup a RAID 0 on the new BIOS.

If anyone had a similar problem or knows of a new setting, something that could cause this please drop a line, I'll need it when I try to update again.

Thanks a lot guys.

Yes water cooling and I stopped using RAID in this configuration to eliminate the bifurcation, keeping the RTX4090 and Crucial T705 NVME running at 16x. M.2-2 slot bifurcates and slows the computer down.

I liked it RAID0 with a pair of FireCuda NVME's fast af but no longer use it. Bifurcation slows it down.NEW 9800X3DNEW 9800X3DCHEERS Y'ALL!!CHEERS Y'ALL!!

Those are very nice frequencies!!! I don't know if the Gen-Z.2 would cause me to get lanes bifurcation but I would still use it even if bifurcated.

I'll try using the new BIOS. But if it doesn't work I don't know if I'll be able to fix the BIOS settings or find what new settings disable the RAID array.

I have been using GPT4 and Claude to learn what each setting should do and it's very fast and helpful but even so it's a pain. I wish they would release an updated manual for the BIOS. Or try to make it so the old RAID settings can be incorporated into the new BIOS.

The way I understand it, the GenZ.2 slot has it's own lanes. 5.0x4X670E-EXTREMEX670E-EXTREME

I had an M.2-2 slot fail on a ASUS Prime X570 PRO board. The computer was running and got a BSOD! My computer was RAID0.  It took so long to get it warrantied I bought a new board. The old board is collecting dust in the garage.
