Hi, last night we set up a PC for a friend's son, and something is happening that has never happened before.
This is the build:
Motherboard --> Asus Tuf Gaming B650 Plus Wifi
CPU --> Ryzen 7700
RAM --> G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 6000 Mhz CL30 2x16 Gb (listed in the B650 support list)
GPU --> MSI Ventus 5070 3x 12 Gb
NVME --> Western Digital SN850x
PSU --> Corsair RM750x
AIO --> Thermalright Frozen Infinity 360
Case --> Phanteks XT Pro Ultra
Monitor --> 27" KTC H27T22 180 Hz
The first thing I do is update the Asus BIOS to the latest version (3281 dated 08/21/2025, official and not beta), directly from within the BIOS.
The BIOS performs the entire procedure, says it has updated, and restarts the PC, but since the green light remains steady for several minutes, we decide to shut down and restart. Also because W11 was not installed and the USB stick with the W11 installation was not inserted, so it makes sense that it did not boot since there was nothing bootable.
At that point, we are able to enter the BIOS, which is updated.
I set EXPO1 (but not MCR yet) and restart the PC, which remains stuck on the green light, with no signal on the screen (DP connection). W11 does not boot because it is not yet installed.
We turn it off and on again a few times, until I try to reset the CMOS.
The screwdriver method doesn't work (obviously everything was disconnected), so I move on to removing the battery.
After a couple of minutes, I put it back in and we're back in the BIOS, where I just adjust the date.
I start installing W11 from the USB key without any problems, update, install the drivers, etc.
Once everything is done, I try again the RAM to EXPO1, enter the BIOS, load the default parameters to be on the safe side, save and return, then I say to myself, “I'll take it one step at a time so as not to mess it up,” save again and exit.
Please note that even this time I did not enable MCR so as not to overload it with stuff to save.
Now this is what happens:
1) If I try to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL, the light stays green and nothing starts up, no signal on the screen. We waited 3-4 minutes, maybe we could have waited longer, nothing...
2) If I don't touch anything, the boot stays on the yellow light (RAM) for 25 seconds, the red light (CPU) for 5 seconds, the white light (VGA) for 3 seconds, the green light (BOOT) for 5 seconds, and then it starts up to W11. You can't see anything of the boot phase, not even W11 loading, but it gets there. I justify the 25 seconds of yellow by saying that I didn't activate the MCR.
I got home at 1 a.m., agitated because this has never happened to me before, and decided to look for similar experiences on the internet, and in fact, many similar ones came up.
Now, I would like to enter that ****** BIOS to set the MCR and other things, preferably without resetting it again.
How can I do this? I have read:
- about people who disconnect the RAM banks and test them individually
- that I could try to enter from W11 with recovery and advanced startup
- to disconnect the GPU and try with the integrated one from the Ryzen 7700
- that it is the integrated GPU that takes control of the video output, so I should move the cables on the motherboard, because I would already be in the BIOS but I can't see it...
- disable the integrated graphic of 7700.
- to always use HDMI (trying both on the integrated 7700 and on the 5070)
- even to update the firmware of the 5070 !
Or even wait for that green light to decide to go away as it came back.
A colleague of mine who had similar problems on the Rog Strix, also AM5, says that he can only enter the BIOS if he starts pressing the F2 and DEL keys as soon as the red light appears.
In all other cases, it stays green as well.
In short, it's a big mess and I'd like to hear your opinion, thank you!
I'd even be tempted to:
1) leave the RAM at 4800 MHz instead of 6000 (how much would I lose?) if this allows me to solve the problem
2) try to install older firmware, but I don't know if a rollback is possible
Sorry for the long post, but I tried to report all the steps I took
Thank you

OK, I've solved it.
This happens, not on all motherboards, only when you enable EXPO1.
Is it a BIOS issue? It could be. Will it be patched? Maybe in the future, yes.
Basically, I always entered the BIOS (that's why the light stays green), but the video signal was being sent to the integrated graphics card of the 7700 and not to the 5070.
I didn't even have to reset or do anything strange: in the afternoon, the kid had connected the cables wrong and saw "Tuf Gaming" at startup, which was impossible two nights earlier.
I look behind and see that he has connected the monitor to the motherboard, not to the 5070.
At that point, I restart and start spamming F2 and DEL, and after a while I'm in the BIOS.
I disabled the integrated card (note that the item above says to give priority to PCIE), did everything I needed to do (including activating MCR because it is not enabled by default), saved and restarted. I moved the DP to the 5070.
Now I have a 10-second boot and can see everything up to the Windows login.
