9800 X3D won't post, no display output

Hello,

I got my hands on a 9800x3d to replace my current 7900x on a ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI .

No matter what I try I never get any display output, no bios, nothing.

The 9800x3d is fine on another motherboard !

I updated to the latest bios (2904), tried going back to older bios, tried removing the the gpu power, one stick of memory, etc.

I've reset the cmos multiple times in different configurations.

When I put the 7900x back in works fine every time. The only new component is the 9800x3d.

I have:
2*16Gb DDR5-6000 Gskill ddr5. F5-6000J3038F16G
fe RTX 4090.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Quite odd behavior! 2 longshots:

1. I'm assuming your power supply is more than enough? i.e. I "believe" the TDP on the 9800X3D is higher but not by much.

2. Check the pins on the motherboard CPU socket.  See if any are slightly out of place or not level as the others?

yes seasonic prime tx-1600, more than enough.....
I assume that if there where a pin problem it should not work when i put back the 7900x, but i will check

Hi @ender333

Can you confirm what Q-LED is lit? Initial memory training can take 5-10 minutes or longer, depending on the memory configuration.

it's the red one (supposed to be cpu one)

Does it post with a different GPU?  Or when using the integrated graphics HDMI?

i try to disconnect my 4090 now

Hi @ender333

Red indicator would be likely pressure / mounting or damage socket issue. Either way, clearly the board was the issue.
