Zen 3 on x470 ROG boards?

Anyone know if Asus will be adding Zen 3 support to X470 ROG boards?

I heard that AMD are providing vendors the updated bios code so they can work on releasing it in the new year.

I own a 3700X, running on the https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VII-HERO/

Thanks in advance 🙂

Nice, good news 🙂

OK - now it's April, 2021, and I still can't run a Zen 3 processor on my Crosshair VII Hero. Can someone from Asus please provide an update?

You need to update the bios in order to use a Ryzen 5000 series.

See here: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-vii-hero-model/helpdesk_bios

At least AMD AGESA v1.1.8.0 is required. And the latest bios I see available is Version 4301, released on 2021/03/29. This contains AMD AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.1 🙂 Therefore there is support for the 5000 series 🙂

Glad to see the change of heart regarding bios support. I really didn't want to have to buy a new CPU+Mobo+GPU+(probably) RAM all at once again. At least this way I can stagger the purchases over a few months to ease my wallet's pain.

AMD/Asus didn't want 5000 on 470 boards because they knew there were headaches involved (PCIe 4.0 involves hardware changes you cant just code around). Then AMD/Asus bowed to pressure. 470 owners will get a janky beta update in winter 2021. It will suck and then no more quality updates. Save aggravation and get a 550/570. Sell 470s while there's still a market for them imo

Im not expert, but PCI doesnt haven`t nothing to do with it...

Looks more a profit decision and period.
