I did try that with my original post and it was doing the same thing. Is your cpu the 3900x?

Yes, happily running 3900x with CH6@7403 bios and PBO enabled. Also undervolted in BIOS (offset -0.1V) so the CPU temps even in closed case and all 24 thread AVX (~4.05-4.1GHz, prime95 smallfft) stay below 80C. Without undervolt, it would climb to 85C+, so seems to have effect. Fully stable in all tests, apps and games, no issues so far.

Dang, it's so annoying that it's happening on POST cause otherwise, when it does boot, it has zero issues. I press the power button, goes to 8 and gets stuck there. I even replaced the ram with the original Samsung B-die set that I got back when I first bought the Ryzen 1700. The one difference though is that sometimes, I now get a 04 when I restart and then gets stuck there which is interesting. According to the manual, it's either:

PCH initialization before microcode loading
or
System is entering S4 sleep state

I am leaning towards a BIOS issue at this point but not sure anymore. I will be validating the CPU this week with the retailer just to have that checked off otherwise, I think I am looking at an RMA,

If 1700 works fine, and 3900x doesn't (I guess you tried bios default setting) then as I think it could:
1) CPU issue - not much likely, since otherwise CPU works fine. You can RMA it or try on some other board if you can.
2) Power supply issue, since 3900x is for sure much more demanding in this area and in initial transient state it might not deliver power properly.
3) Board issue - unlikely since it works ok with 1700 and BIOS 7403 is confirmed that works ok with 3900x

Good luck and keep us posted...

Crosshair VI Hero here. Updated to latest 7403, benchmark scores are slightly lower than 7306 (fixed 4GHz from bios, 3600C14 2x16GB, 1800IF).
I see Performance Bias options are updated and configure MSRs differently, but old profiles give me slightly better scores.
Can't load OS (grub 2, dial boot Linux and Win) with CB15 Aggressive profile selected in bios, so not sure what it changes compared to CB15 Gentle. Tried booting directly from Windows SSD, but still no go. Stuck at blinking cursor.
Gen4 for PCI-E is gone.
SMU version is the same.

Lads... Holy mother of baby Jesus... I seemed to have got it working! No more Q-code 8!

Here is what I did and it's a bit of a pain and I am gonna be testing it over the course of the week to see whether or not it's a fluke or the real deal but here it is.

First, I went back to my Ryzen 1700 and then rolled back to Bios version 7306. Then I uninstalled my Ethernet drivers and installed the recent ones from this thread:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?112820-For-Anyone-Running-Windows-10-1903-Install-This-new...

Then I updated Ai Suite to the latest version which also updated EZ Flash. Idk if that updates the Bios EZ flash too or not but at least in windows, that got updated. (I have been flashing through the BIOS previously). So then I updated the BIOS to 7403 through EZ Flash in windows. After I did that, I had my original G.skill ram that I bought back when I initially got the Ryzen 1700 which had Samsung B-Die. My current one doesn't but I didn't think that would matter (and maybe it doesn't but it's one of the things that got me to getting it fixed). Then I started windows and let it sit there for a few minutes.

Finally, I turned off my computer and my psu, unplugged everything, took my Ryzen 1700 out and put the 3900x back in. Turned on my computer and in the BIOS, I disabled ECC since that was on by default for some reason and I disabled PBO.

After that, bam, it started to work! It booted successfully, I restarted a bunch of times with no issues and I was able to reinstall windows. Ran prime95 for an hour, played a bunch of games, works like how I expected it to on day 1.

I am gonna do some more testing this week to see if my new Ram that I got that isn't B-die will work or if that's what was causing the Q-code 8 and play with it a bunch more to see if I can break it. For now, I am gonna let it sit there and be the 12 core monster it is.

Did you solve the issue? I have the same issue the system doesn't boot with CB15 Aggressive.

CB15 Aggressive doesn't work with C7H as well, generates a sure bluescreen. Just ignore that option! 🙂

"we have closely reviewed feedback from our customers and have identified an issue in our firmware that reduces boost frequency in some situations. We are in the process of preparing a BIOS update from our motherboard partners that addresses that issue and includes additional boost performance optimizations. We will provide an update on September 10 to the community regarding the availability of the BIOS."
