There is a fault with this BIOS causing 3b error on Boot = failure to initialise PCH
You Must enable CSM and boot into legacy mode = enabled in bios

Therefore I do not recommend anyone update till this is fixed, its a huge backward step and should be avoided

OK so 7901 has a nasty Sleep bug, if your pc goes to sleep or hibernates, the PC fails to respond and wake up and a hard reset is required (hopefully you saved all your files that were open before going to sleep).

according to the thread at Overclockers (Elmor original thread) https://www.overclock.net/forum/11-amd-motherboards/1624603-rog-crosshair-vi-overclocking-thread-453...

this has been present since BIOS 7501 and has still not been addressed.

something to do with the UCLK sleep bug,

to be fair the BIOS updates for the CHVI (E) have been the most bug ridden, you can tell by how many we actually have.

way back when

BIOS 0401 (bugged Memory controller) 1st BIOS
BIOS 1602 (bugged) stablilty was useless
BIOS 1701
BIOS 3008
BIOS 3502
BIOS 6004 (ASUS even states that this BIOS is bugged and to not use it in the Changelog) 😞
BIOS 6101 (Bugged Fan controller, Bugged sensor controller)
BIOS 6201 (fixed isssues with fan controller and calibration options) apparently
BIOS 6302
BIOS 6401
BIOS 6903 Terrible memory management on Hynix IC's
BIOS 7003 (Bugged)
BIOS 7106 (Mouse BUG in BIOS) (Safe boot button is not that safe bug)
BIOS 7201 Fixed above issues
BIOS 7306 (Destiny 2 BUG)
BIOS 7403 (Fixed Destiny 2 bug) (also removed PCI-e GEN4 Support from the BIOS)
BIOS 7501 (Bugged) trash performance (Sleep Bug)
BIOS 7601 (bugged) Hynix IC's Support dropped cannot run DOCP standard anymore (Sleep Bug)
BIOS 7704 (fixed Hynix IC's not running correctly) BUGGED ( NO UEFI BOOT, NO SECURE BOOT) (had to run in legacy mode) when booting (sleep bug)
BIOS 7901 (bugged, cannot goto hibernation/sleep. Hard reset required when waking up from sleep (sleep Bug)

Its tragic, this board is still one of the best ones you can get for the Ryzen series, but has had no love for a very very long time.

It looks AMD will provide a code where manufacturers are able to choose what CPUs to support on what board. I really hope we get support only for the 4 CPUs they have announced (5600x-5800X-5900X-5950X). I think these will be enough for all Asus Crosshair owners with X370 chip 🙂

Looking at the news about Ryzen 5000 on A320 and X370, and looking at one specific X570 board that has dual bios support. its bios size is 16MB only ( i could not see an evidence about it to be more than that)

My hopes are a bit up for 5000 Support on crosshair hero VI and extreme. it would be next year if they will ever release it.

I'm doing an upgrade on my system. Installing a new CPU/CPU cooler/NVME drive. And I'm going to reinstall Windows 10 Home 64 bit. Would like to get the newest versions of motherboard drivers I need. The support page for the C6E has a bunch of drivers that seem years old.

I don't need: BIOS, GPU driver, Chipset driver. Already have an up to date BIOS and I know where to get GPU and Chipset drivers. I don't plan on using any of the Asus software tools either like AI Suite. So I don't need those. I have a new Ryzen 3800XT and Vega 64 LC. Current installed CPU is a 1800X.

I do need: Ethernet driver, Wi-Fi driver, Bluetooth driver, audio driver. I don't know if I need a SATA driver. I don't plan on connecting my hard drives with RAID. I think I need a USB driver but I don't know for sure. Those last two things I'm not sure about. I need the help of someone who is an expert.

https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-vi-extreme-model/helpdesk_download Support page seems really out of date.

No bug fixes for the long reported issues? What about SAM support?
