Trying to decide which CPU to get for a C6H

Hi All,
I'm trying to decide on my CPU upgrade path and hope some of you can help.
Planning on getting a Ryzen 3000 series CPU for my (strictly) gaming rig. I'm between from the 3600 to the 3800x and everything in the middle. I only game in VR and really only play a heavily modded SkyrimVR, DCS, X-plane 11, and iRacing. I'm a fan of eye candy so I will be upgrading a pair of 1080ti GPUs for a single 2080ti. I also plan on going from DDR4/3000c16 to DDR4/3600c16 memory and hoping it will work on this board at rated speed.
I just can't decide if the 3700x or 3800x CPU brings any better value to the build over a 3600.

From reviews it's seems you wouldn't gain much going 8C/16T for gaming.

Due to the process, increased density, I see slightly higher temps on R5 3600 vs 2700X. Both used with same cooling.

My R5 3600 seems reasonably accepting PBO+150MHz, in loads like Kahru RAM Test I see ACB of ~4.33GHz, 2700X was ~4.15 with PBO: Enabled PE: default.

Think about the next few years, will we see games limited to only taking advantage of four cores, or will eight cores be the target for the enthusiast crowd(for recommended settings)? Go with the 3700X or 3800X would be my advice.

It's been ~2yrs that 8C/16T became mainstream. Still games do not take advantage...

I personally would save the money and get what is needed, not future proof, use the saved money for next gen AMD...

Last I recall AM4 was gonna be supported upto 2020. So this maybe or the next set of CPUs last call for AM4...

Everything that has come out so far indicates the 3600 is the best choice for gaming only. And it's relatively inexpensive (as CPUs go) so if you have to replace it in the future it won't be a big loss.
