Temperature Sensors failing/ Fans on Max speed problem

Just wanted to start a thread and see how many other people are having this same issue. Basically the conditions are as follows:

Just using the PC as normal and the I hear all the Case Fans Max out! If i check any monitoring software it states that the motherboard temp sensor is reading -109C. Also all other temps(CPU, CPU DIODE, CHIPSET, and VRM) stop responding to change in CPU load. A quick restart fixes the problem but it is very annoying. It happens on a daily basis. I have not figured out what is causing this.

I have seen similar posts on the forum but have yet to see a solution.Figured if we could compile everyone that is having this problem on a single thread it would help and maybe @asus has something in the works for this.

i am having the same issue with my Strix x470-f and it`s not consistant.

Some times happens after 10 mins , some after 2 hours and some never happens...also on rare occasions my fans just shutdown.

Here is what seemed to fix it for me.

I was running Aida64 and AI suite at the same time.

Once i uninstalled AI suite the temperature sensor has not frozen any more since.

I have a sneaking suspicion that running several programs that poll the sensor at the same time might cause it to hang/get stuck.

So, this might not be applicable to all users experiencing this issue, but it could be worth a shot to remove AI suite if you have that running.

In my case..abnormal temps(showing 90 or -70) where fixed with an aida update on june i think. But the fan issue still goes on.

Using both aida and Ai suite was a mess for me , so i stayed with aida (using sensorpanel on a 7inch small monitor) .

So the problem i see that remains is :
Fans freeze on some of us (or shutdown) so temps start to rize !

on the c7h bios 0804 states :

- Fully fixed ACPI WMI implementation

And i think after a few days there was an aida64 to work with the changes , but for x470 strix no update was released from asus with the same fix.

I tried every BIOS setting I could think about, and nothing seemed to help. I still occasionally observe the fans spinning at max speeds, or stopping completely. I confirm that opening two apps simultaneously triggers the issue almost immediately. ASUS seems to have introduced changes on the two most recent versions of the BIOS for the X470-I. However, another issue has been introduced at the Chassis FAN control, where the PWM FAN control does not respond to changes in temperature. For this reason, I reverted to the previous BIOS version.

Just a shot in the dark here, but what powerplan are you guys running?

I also run AIDA 64, and uninstalling aisuite and just running aida seemed to fix it for a long time for me, but then it returned again a few days ago after i had been messing with settings on my system.

I tried everything i had tried before, but nothing seemed to stop the sensor from freezing. Then i noticed that the powerplan had changed from Ryzen balanced to High performance. Changed it to Ryzen balanced again, and it has remained working for about two days again.

Don't know if this is just coincidence, if its actually the power management in windows that is doing this OR if the fact that Balanced lets the chips clock down every now and then that solves it, but worth a shot if anyone else have this problem.

BTW: I'm running a x370 pro with a ryzen 1700x

Hi guys,

I had the same issue but kinda solved it.

Here is a video i made about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gUIhek6B-k

Later today i upload an video on how to resolve the issue. It fixes it for me and but it can happen again.

Are the people in thiss thread using the same motherboard or all are different?

Thnx.

I've seen threads with both x370 and x470 cards.. I'm betting they both use the same thermal sensors and fan controllers. Has anyone tried contacting Asus support about it?

But as of now Asus became radio silent and now Elmor )Jon Sandstrom) left the building and some other engineer, Asus ROG is in a bad situation now.. I send RajaAsus an PM but they simply do not respond.. i think they simply do not care..

I got similar fan problem on my c7h too. But instead of going full speed or completely stop, all my fans, including two of my CPU fans simply run in a + 30~40C scale with stock fan curves which the EC on the motherboard showing CPU temp reaching 70C even in cold boot. I upgraded my bios from 0509 to 0804 when this occurs. I tried bios flash back but every time my MB will get stuck with q-code 07 and yellow light for ram check. Changed my CPU cooler from H7 QL to C14S didn't help. Switched my ram from Adata D40 to Kingston Fury didn't help. Completely rebuild my rig at least 5 times didn't help. Now waiting for bios with AGESA 1.0.0.6 and hoping maybe that will give me a chance.

Your problems have nothing to do with AGESA man, its the IT sensor that is causing this, i explained this in my previous post and on my video clip i posted.

As to your other issues, i would try BIOS 1002 because it has the WMI interface that most likely solve your fan and temp problems or at least solve it temporarily.
