Nice to see AMD implementing new (non-JEDEC, non-Intel) DDR4 extensions. Command sets (like ProcODT, CLDO_VDDP, Geardown Mode, and many others) offer powerful firmware options for motherboard makers and for (overclocking) end-users. AGESA keeps on getting better and giving more with each revision.

That being said, it's mildly alarming to me that essential JEDEC-compliant DDR4 controls (like CR, tWCL/tWL/tCWL, tRC, etc) are only now being (and haven't yet been) fully and properly implemented. It looks like AMD "rushed" final release with the intent of worrying about the fine details after they'd already established a presence. Get those chips onto market, give the devs and OEMs whatever unfinished SDKs/support you can on the fly, plenty of time to get it working *perfectly* after a wave of revenue and frustrated "beta testers" have provided field feedback.

I'm willing to set my jaded cynicism aside a little and wait for AMD's rise to power. They've got to catch up on a lot of tech, they've got to generate a lot of money, they've got to re-establish a lot of confidence in AMD brands ... and they've already made huge strides which have astonished "expert" expectations.

AGESA promises to be far more versatile than anything Intel's given us, once it's fully developed and once the innovative OEMs learn how to tweak it up to eleven with their own "special sauces".

Yes, but who knows how well. Just having access to more of the "under the hood" memory timings though has improved my system enormously though not automatically. Took some digging. I have a post on here about how I got my Corsair Dominator Platinum to finally work at 3200 like it's supposed to.
