Hello, I would like to ask when the new BIOS is going to be released for the B550 series.

According to AMD, the new AGESA ComboAM4v2PI 1.2.0.cb will fix this vulnerability.

SinkClose tracked as CVE-2023-31315 and rated of high severity (CVSS score: 7.5)

More info at: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/product-security/bulletin/amd-sb-7014.html

Thanks.

Tried the final(5021) bios on x570-i gaming and in my non-scientific testing - thinks are working ok.

Upgraded today from the BETA BIOS 3610 to the non beta version, 3611.

No problems to report so far.

B550-F gaming.

Also Upgraded today from the BETA BIOS 3610 to the non beta version, 3611.

No problems  so far, Seems my Cinebench score is back up as well.

B550-A gaming.

Re-ran Cinebench R20 this morning to check if the low results were just an anomaly but, alas, they were even lower compared to last week (around 8050) and remarkably worse compared to the 8500+ score I had with the previous BIOS 6 months ago. I have made absolutely no changes to my hardware since then so it is either a Windows issue or BIOS issue. From practical perspective, however, I do not detect any noticeable change in the frame rate while gaming.

Security sometimes comes with a cost..

So, you should consider, do I use this computer for more than just gaming ?

Am I at risk using this computer without the patches installed ?

Does this vulnerability affects me or maybe it is just a patch that helps with a specific use case ?

So, each user should decide what the next step is going to be, read about vulnerabilities and take action accordingly.

Very good questions and, to be honest, I haven't given much thought to them. When there is a new BIOS version, I tend to put it as soon as possible to get the latest improvements and security fixes, especially that now new versions for X570 are released so rarely (it is very likely that this will be the last one). As I said, I have flashed to almost every BIOS version since I built this PC in March 2020 and have never had such a performance hit, even thought there has been security patches in the past too.

Anyway, I think that I can live with that. Also, hopefully, in 6 months I will move to X870 and forget about these concerns (and, most likely get others 😂).
