So I've been building my new pc for 5weeks now. I'm on my second board and it looks like this one has suspected issues as I cant install the gpu driver even after updating windows to the latest drivers. I'm going to reinstall windows now and lose another nights sleep. coincidentally Microsoft barred my windows 10 key. I upgraded from windows 7 and I cannot even find my original key.
so now I need a new windows 10 key to boot. ive really been burnt going amd. its a big shame because this will put me off in the future.... I understand windows has something to do with it, I can reinstall everything once more into my old haswell rig and everything will work so.... apart from the fact that I now have to buy another key. if anyone has any inkling of what might be happening, please let me know. 5hours plus reading the internet about it so far.

I'm goin to end up having a nervous break down I'm getting that much stress from things not working. wtf... this was meant to be the highlight of the year for me.

I have a m.2 nvme drive installed. is there a certain setting I need to apply in the bios to get the card a titan x pascal to be recognised.

Can't find your Windows 7 key? When you do the free upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, your Windows 10 is an OEM version which is non-transferable. You can plead your case over the phone to Microsoft, but you need your Windows 7 key.

Hi PureCain!

If you are seeing a picture out of the video card that means that the video card is working. It might be a software issue and not a HW one. I would suggest for you to install the drivers from http://www.geforce.com/drivers . That page has the latest NVIDIA drivers for your graphics card. Your answer suggest you a hard disk from one pcc and moved it to another. If that's the case drivers from the old hardware might be conflicting with the new ones. You can boot in safe mode and delete the drivers that are causing issues but I will suggest you reinstall the os.

If you want to delete specific driver packages you can visit
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/install/using-device-manager-to-uninstall-...
for a howto.
If you are affiliated with an educational institution you can get a 10% discount from windows here https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/edu .

What are the message if any that you are seeing ?
What bios version you have?
Why you exchange the mobo? (2 mobos with the same behavior might mean the mobo is not the problem,)

right the first build had a dodgy Ethernet port...
the second board installed fine until I came to install the gpu... unfortunately it looks like the software needed is quite extensive as windows have been making changes to the whole graphics sub system. anyway if this happens to you... try to install any extra windows update you can find for your system.
when I installed the os a third time everything worked... I had one extended install where the os tried to find all other important drivers itself. it hadn't performed this ruitine the first two times. I then went to install the gpu and it went straight on. this probably had something to do with me using m.2 nvme.

just glad I persevered and managed to get everything working... cheers !!!!!!

the error message you will see from the NVidia driver will be that the driver isn't compatible with this system.
when you try to install through hardware manager you will get errors like code # on bus 0... sorry I cant remember the exact details. I'm still feeling fragile aftyer losing 3 nights sleep this week with these boards.
