Ryzen 1600X Owners Overclocking (The 2.2Ghz Problem)

Hey everyone, I wanted to make a thread for owners of the 1600x. I have noticed the after bios 1002 overclocking in the traditional fashion no longer works without locking the processors @ a 22 multiplier. I have also seen several post on this forum confirming that the problem only seems to happen to 1600x owners. I figured that we should band together to see if ASUS can resolve the problem with a bios update.

I have tried the following bios:

1002-Functions "normal"
1201-Exhibits 2.2Ghz issue
9943-Exhibits 2.2Ghz issue
9945-Exhibits 2.2Ghz issue
1401-Exhibits 2.2Ghz issue
1403-Exhibits 2.2Ghz issue

This thread is not to say that all the bios revisions after 1002 are without merit. The 1401 bios has done wonders for my ram and temps. But I still can not use manual multiplier control modes or manual voltage modes without getting thrown into the 22 multiplier.

Overclocking with Psates-

I have worked around this issue by using PState overclocking. Using A0 for the 40 multiplier and A2 for the 40.5 multiplier has yielded results. Using this configuration with Core voltage offset modes gives me control over the multiplier and Core voltage. This is how I have been overclocking after bios 1002.

In closing I hope that those of you who own the 1600x can chime in on this thread and help others who are experiencing this problem or just have conversations about our experiences with the 1600x and C6H combo.

I have the same issue with 1800X

I have see 1800X's exhibit this behavior on another forum. Try the new bios and see if it helps. If so report back and let us know how it works. Thanks for posting

Everything seem working fine. Unlock multiply for 1600X. Processer power management can be adjust whatever %. but a little bug still here, the cpu didn't down clock even idle. U've come to the right way Raja (In my country call Racha). I really applicated. What've u already done just keep going:o my man.;)

So far so good guys. I was able to change multiplier and voltage settings and all settings have been reflected in bios monitoring and in windows. This is great news. I will continue to use the PC on this bios as much as possible all weekend and continue to update the thread on any findings I make. Thanks @ASUS, I was not expecting this so soon. Well done!!

BCLK changes the PCIe frequency. Many SSDs don't like running past 100 MHz.

Got it.

Thank you.

I have R7 1800X, not stuck at 2.2GHz, are you at stock or doing a PState OC? explain more on what your settings are.

I have 32GB of Vengence 3200 MHZ Ram- 4-8GB sticks using profile DHC 5,

Multiplier is set at 40- 4000 MHz, CPU voltage Offset .03750 Gigi level 2, soc voltage manual 1.117.

I tried it with the p-state instead of the multiplier as well as the blk bus instead. With the blk bus, the pc would not boot with it set over 102.

Thanks *

To give an update, I read online that changing the voltage to auto from Offset could fix this. I did just that, changed the voltage to Auto, and now CPU-Z is reading the multiplier at 40 and speed at 4.0ghz. I don't want to leave the voltage on Auto. Before I had an Offset of 0.3750 and it was set at level one in the Gigi control screen. Any idea how to fix this and what the voltage should be set at?

Thanks*

I use offset mode.

In this thread, section FAQ > Setting up PState 0 OC on C6H is how I have OC'd several R7 1700 and 1x 1800X.

I tried overclocking with the p-state. When I tried to change p- state 0- FID *to anything other Han A0, when I hit enter it goes back to A0. Right now it's set at fid ao, did- 8 and vid- 20. How do I set it 3900mhz using p-state?
