ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME - Marvell aqnic650 10g on mobo crashes

Hi i have some major problem with the 10G connection on the mobo

it did hold up a bit longer but it happened again now 2 times but the first time was a light disconnect but the 2nd one a couple of days later was a hard lockup and i needed to reset the adapter for it to start working again.

while it was being locked up i checked ipconfig;

really weird it looks like it reverted to another IP cause it can't reach the DHCP server?  i tried to force the IP it should have from the router since it is a static ip set on the router for the MAC

it managed to apply it but it still wont connect, not even the LAN since i still can't reach my router:

I'm out of ideas. i can only get it to work again if i disable and re-enable the adapter then it starts working again....

im wondering if it is a bad windows install since i did just move my nvme disk from my AM4 5950x build to this am5 and then upgraded from win10 to win11 on the am5 system via the windows update thing so not a clean install or anything. But i am sceptical to that since everything else is working great.
its either that or a bad network chip?

i talked to asus rma support:

Windows 11 have had some issues after some recent Windows updates unfortunately, but one thing that can be worthwhile to check here is a certain setting called EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) which sometimes works as a "sleep function" in certain scenarios.

Go to the device manager, go to network adapters then rightclick on your ethernet adapter and choose "properties". In the pop-up window go to the "advanced" tab. You should then turn the EEE to off as shown in the picture below (there might be a different worded ethernet adapter unit in this picture, but you choose your ethernet adapter for this):

Get into contact with Asus warranty and RMA the motherboard. I have had to do the same thing with an Asus Hero and now and Asus Extreme motherboard.

they replied to me and said it was cause of bad windows 11 drivers

What version of the Marvell AQC driver do you have installed?  The latest from ASUS is 3.1.6.0, and the latest from Marvell is 3.1.7.0.

If you've not fully investigated the driver side of things, I think it's premature to consider a RMA.

windows auto updated it to the 3.1.7.0 version

Teletha, do you have other things dropping out? Like audio or USB dropouts? Do you have random lock-ups like a black screen, fans ramping up to 100%, and not being able to restart the computer without resetting the PSU? If so, then RMA that motherboard.

The reason that I am asking is because that is happening and has happened with me on the Hero and Extreme motherboard. Asus suggested, after MONTHS of back and forth, that I RMA them. I am now on my second RMA with the Extreme motherboard that they gave me when the Hero went bad. When this RMA goes through, this will be my 3rd x670e motherboard since November..... All the RMAs starting with the NIC disappearing, USB dropouts, and audio dropouts and got worse over time...

Also, this thread might be of some help.

I am using Extreme mobo too, but no such problem. Have you done any OC etc? All in auto? Would I ask you a question, whats your VSOC voltage if you use either DOCP I/II? I read that you unable to restart the PC, when restarting , the screen is stay black and it stucked in memory trainning? 1 more question, have you set ERP to S4+S5 ?

That is all stock with Expo 1 enabled. I haven't tried OCing that much as it's too unstable.

I've tried every BIOS that has come out.

As far as the hard lock ups, the screen turns black mainly while light gaming (Madden 23), the fans ramp up to 100%, nothing resets the system except cutting the power to the whole motherboard. The computer stays in that state even when pressing reset and the power button on the motherboard. Reset does nothing. Power button does nothing. The only way that the computer gets out of that state is to cut the main power on the PSU.

Would you like try to put both chipset 1.05v in bios to 1.09v to see any more dropout

I've actually tried the chipset at 1.08v a few BIOS revisions back. I got the same results. I'm not too comfortable going higher than that. I don't like adding voltage to a motherboard that should be functioning out of the box at stock.
