ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme - Bluetooth and Wifi not working

SimeJah

So I got my ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme mobo about a month ago.
Everything is working fine except 2 things;
the Wifi and (more importantly) Bluetooth are not working.

I already tried;
- reconnecting the antenna (both ways)
- resetting BIOS
- Clearing CMOS
- triple checked if the devices are enabled in BIOS
- installing the drivers from ASUS website multiple times.
- installing 3rd party drivers
- installing legacy drivers
- Installing a fresh copy of Windows 10
- upgrading to windows 11

It is noteworthy that when I try to run the driver installer all I get is a brief flashing of a CMD window. It does not seem like it's installing much, but I could be wrong here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You need these drivers for your ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme motherboard :

[DRIVERS] AMD Chipset/SATA (3xx/4xx/5xx/TRX40)

- AMD Chipset Drivers

[DRIVERS] Intel Serial IO/Thunderbolt (3xx/4xx/5xx)

- Intel Thunderbolt Drivers

[DRIVERS] Intel Ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth

- Intel Ethernet Drivers (Drivers Only) :

Drivers - I22x-V (2.5GbE)

[DRIVERS] Marvell/Aquantia Ethernet

- Marvell/Aquantia Ethernet Drivers (Drivers Only)

[DRIVERS] MediaTek WiFi/Bluetooth

- MediaTek WiFi Drivers (Drivers Only)

- MediaTek Bluetooth Drivers (Drivers Only)

[DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (MB | Intel 2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx & AMD 3xx/4xx/5xx)

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard, so :

You need Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS MB) from the first post of the thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Thank you for sending these drivers (which are not listed on the asus motherboard page which I find both strange and disturbing.)

Anyway.. I cannot seem to install these.. You mention the following; "Right click on "mtkbtfilter.inf" > Install > Wait for the message "The operation completed successfully" or for restart request"

When I right click and select install I get a UAC prompt, I click continue, and... nothing happens. no message, no nothing.
How can this be? Is there any other way to install it?
Thank you!

Hi,

Try with this install method via Device Manager :

- Press Windows key + X > Device Manager > Right-click on your MediaTek WiFi device > Update driver > Browse my computer for driver software
- Browse...
> Select the extracted drivers folder (WiFi_MediaTek_v...) > Next
- Press Windows key + X > Device Manager > Right-click on your MediaTek Bluetooth device > Update driver > Browse my computer for driver software
- Browse...
> Select the extracted drivers folder (BT_MediaTek_v...) > Next

Note : If you don't see your WiFi & Bluetooth devices in your Device Manager, try this : Turn off your PC > Turn off your PSU for 15 sec > Turn on your PSU > Turn on your PC.

Both devices you mentioned are not listed in Device manager. That is the whole problem. So I cannot do this technique.

Hello, I have same MOBO.
This board uses an Intel Wireless module, not Mediatek.
You need to install Intel drivers. Maybe this is what is causing your problem....

Check this thread:
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?118280-DRIVERS-Intel-Ethernet-WiFi-Bluetooth

I have been having an issue with Bose QC45 bluetooth headsets. They've connected/paired, however, they crack in and out, more out than in. So I was thinking of getting a bluetooth adapter/extender.

Does anyone think this might work?
