ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO & Bios 5002

Hello,

Since BIOS 5002 on my motherboard ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO , I've been having instability issues with Windows. It crashes very often.

CPU : AMD 5950x
CM : Asus ROG CrossAir VIII Dark Hero / Bios 5002
RAM : G.Skill Flare X 32 Gb RAM
GPU : Asus Prime RTX 5070 Ti
Ext card : Asus Hyper M.2 x4 PCI-e to M.2
Ext card : Delock 89528 RJ-45 10 Gb/s

There are 3 network cards on my machine, 2 integrated (disabled in bios) and one that I added to get 10 Gb/s.

I've had this motherboard RAM/CPU for 4 years, the 10Gb/s network card for 3 years.Everything has always worked very well in the past. Since this winter (bios 5002) I have been experiencing problems.

Now, if I activate my Delock 89528 PCI-e card, Windows 11 crashes. If I activate the integrated Realtech 2.5 Gb/s card, Windows 11 also crashes. I only have the 1 Gb/s Intel card left, which I can use under Windows.

Under Linux, everything works perfectly !?

I suspect that the UEFI BIOS 5002 is 100% the cause of the problem.

I also have a problem with this UEFI BIOS and my Asus RTX 5070 Ti GPU. I can't use the CSM (Legacitry Bios) compatibility setting, otherwise Debian refuses to boot or install (same problem with Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.). I have to configure the BIOS in UEFI to be able to use this GPU!? Yet, I didn't have such restrictions before with my RTX 3080 ?!

Side note:

I would like to see the ability to disable M.2 SSDs and other hard drives in general in the BIOS of Asus motherboards. Indeed, when reinstalling your machine's OS, it's preferable to be able to disable drives not affected by the reinstallation; if they remain active, this can sometimes lead to data loss due to software bugs or human error.

This feature is essential, especially if you're installing operating systems like Arch Linux that don't have graphical installers.

Regards.
