"The VGA card is not supported by UEFI driver" on POST - Dark Hero

I set up my new Dark Hero build a few days ago, and I occasionally get this error on POST.

"The VGA card is not supported by UEFI driver.
CSM (Compability Support Module) settings have been changed
For further adjustments, press [F1] to enter BIOS setup

The message only comes when the monitor has gone into deep sleep mode overnight and then I turn on the computer. It also seems to happen if I turn the PC/Monitor on in a certain way but I haven't really figured out how to trigger it exactly.

The monitor is an ASUS PG35VQ, connected via DisplayPort. There is also a Valve Index plugged in via HDMI.

My graphics card is a Nvidia 3080 Founder's Edition. I never saw this message on my Asus Maximus Hero VIII motherboard that I was using previously with CSM disasbled and the same graphics card.

Last bios installed, all drivers update. Another thing that is strange , the smart access memory doesn't work.

I will try with the monitor on . Thanks for helping me.

Thank you for advice. With the monitor on the problem is solved.

Adding to this thread, I have the same problem on my Tuf gaming b550-plus, bios revision 3002, with a gigabyte windforce oc 4070 connectec to an htc vive link box (with vive attached and always powered, on hdmi) and a samsung odyssey g7 (LC27G75TQSPXEN, on  displayport) which is notoriously slow to turn on.

As described in this thread, the error happens when the computer is turned on but the odyssey g7 isn't.

Stranger still, sometimes the motherboard will beep 1 long 3 short, indicating the error - but then the monitor will turn on and the computer will start without showing the error message or turning off csm. It seems related to the timing of when the monitor turns on.

I'm having the same problem with my TUF B550-PLUS, bios revision 3002, with an RX6700XT.
The error occurs when the computer is on but the odyssey g7 is not, it also happens when i restart windows.

I believe this error is due to a failure on the motherboard, I will open an RMA with Asus Brasil.

If anyone knows of another solution please let me know.

So I am honestly led to believe this is because of some Gpus being cracked, or a mass bios crack. I know the odds are ever so slim but with it being across gpus, and motherboards it kinda fits. I have had a stutter in bios since. Got the board back in feb 2023, and I have constantly had to redownload os after os because my home network kept getting compromised with what seemed like out of thin air. I’m running

ASUS-570x-plus WiFi

Tried both Ryzen 7 5700x and 5700g

Radeon rx 6500 xt and tried my older nvidia gtx.

asgard 3200  2x8gig for ram.
nvmre storage, ssd and hdd storage.

now what led me to this conclusion is running several types of rescue disks and cmos/bios information getters and it seemed like any time I would get to lookin at the vga driver everything would start hard trippin like out of an 80s hacker movie. The whole screen would go hippie rainbow, and in some spots you could see the word script randomly popping up. So I know that it’s so far fetched but after trying everything possible, down to a whole new build, I feel there is some crack in either the production phase or somehow the uefi coding was toyed with. Idk I am so far from an expert it hurts, but it has been a plague. X,..,X

Hi,
I got this same annoying error.

For me the problem only appears when I turn on my pc and not when restarting. Every time I start my pc the CSM keep enabling it self and i must disable it otherwise when i turn on my pc next time I won’t get any display and have to reset bios jumper.

I’ve installed the latest bios version 5 something and also the gpu firmware, change the drive to gpt, tried hdmi cable, tried gen3, gen4 in bios, disabled secure boot nothing works. Also tried turning monitor on before pc.

Looked everywhere on the internet but no luck.

i don’t understand! Why is it impossible to fix the error.

i’m using

Ryzen 3600

Strix X570e

Strix 3070

Hi everyone,

I have an Asus Rog crosshair extrem VIII Ryzen 5800X 3D & RTX 3080 12 GB Master Aorus and my problem is different !

resumed Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty I must have played 50 hours since its release without problem and yesterday after 5 minutes of playing black image on my TV, I did a reset and I got the famous message "The VGA card is not supported by UEFI driver" wow...! I updated the bios, checked Windows updates, RTX 3080, etc. All is well.

My problem is different because I always manage to restart the PC, stay on the Windows desktop for 1 hour but as soon as I start a game it crashes after about 5-10 minutes of play, I have tried everything, bios reset, different parameters in the bios, nothing happens, after 5 minutes of play, black image and no way to access the PC and I get the famous message when I restart the PC.

I found a temporary solution which worked since I was able to play for a few hours without spitting problems, I changed the PCI-e cable from the 16x-1 slot to the 16x2 slot and there it seems working on the other hand I lose the 16x pci-e since slot 2 only does 8x. Yes I know it's sad for a high-end motherboard that costs $750 but I didn't feel any difference in graphics quality at the level of Cyberpunk 2077.

Maybe it can help some, I left the settings pci-e on Auto in the bios so it processes VGA in PCI-e 4.0 but in 8X

Sorry for the spelling of am French

Hi guys,

I don't know if there are still people coming here? but I found the problem at home, in fact at the beginning it worked by changing the riser in the pcie 16x 2 and I played cyberpunk once or twice without problem, this morning I started the PC to download the 2.1 update cyberpunk and nothing else??? the more I searched, the less it worked, in the end I no longer even had access to the bios, I searched until 9:00 p.m. As I have an Asus Thor power supply, I removed the 3 sockets 8 pins 12v to see if the voltage drops? nothing no difference, I test the 8pin sockets with a multimeter and eureka!!! 1 socket no longer had power, I followed the cable, as I have extension cords, well the socket was out. I reconnect everything correctly and bam everything works again. 8 pin extension cord set. There you go, I hope this can help some of you, check carefully if all your 8 pins are powered by 12v and if you have extension cords that they are properly connected. My PC works like a flower there. Incredible, I would never have thought of a Hardware problem with this message in the Bios: "The VGA card is not supported by the UEFI driver"
