I am building a new ITX system for a friend. Using a ROG Strix X570-I Gaming motherboard. When motherboard was first received I used an on hand spare Ryzen 3600 onboard along with some spare Ram I had on hand to check out the motherboard to ensure it was working. I finally got things installed onto an ITX case bought for this build.
Fast forward to late last week and I got a new Ryzen 5800 cpu to use. Installed it on Friday without issue. Then on Saturday(yesterday) as I was working on the system I began seeing some mouse cursor weirdness. I just shut it down. Attempted again later and now started getting OS(Win11 btw) boot up errors being logged. Most of the errors seemed to point to drive issues. I had been planning on using a newer Gen 4 NVMe drive so went ahead and installed one and figured I'd just reload Win11 vs Cloning the drive I had been using. However after installing the new Samsung 980 Pro drive turns out the system is not seeing the NVMe drive now. So I put another spare NVMe drive in....same thing.
Now I just pulled it all apart to aid in troubleshooting. For some reason the motherboard will not see any NVMe drive in the primary slot. Haven't tried the M.2 slot on back of motherboard. I put the 3600 cpu back on just in case it was an issue with the new 5800x. I have cleared CMOS, reflashed the latest bios just in case it got corrupted somehow.
It appears the motherboard has failed somehow. Am I missing anything here before attempting a motherboard return?
For an update...I installed an NVMe drive onto the back M.2 slot and it appears to work fine. So apparently it's the front M.2 socket that is bad.
