No Post Q Code AD

A friend of mine just got his components in from newegg a day or two ago and installed them correctly from my knowledge. He reported that his Crosshair did not come with an anti static bag (which I am unsure if this affected anything), anyways the LEDs on the board work, gpu and cpu fans were operating, but the computer did not post. I had him try another gpu, use only one stick of RAM, unplug all storage aside from his new SSD, loosen the waterblock on the cpu, and update the bios to the beta builds both on the official site and on the forum. I had him send a picture of his motherboard and according to the Q Codes everything should be good.

For the time being, he has taken out all of his new components and put his old AM3+ stuff back in. I am going to try and get him to hook everything up outside of a case and troubleshoot tomorrow. I am trying to figure out whether the issue was the lack of anti static bag in packaging (which might be a dumb guess), DOA mobo or RAM incompatability. I will have him check for bent cpu pins but I doubt he messed them up. Edit: No pins bent.

I'm actually baffled that motherboards don't come with them anymore... Because just a few months ago I built a rig for a friend using the 970 Aura and it came with a bag.

We've tried everything in the book to get this working properly with no success. Time for a refund. Thanks for the help.

Last attempt will be picking another kit of ram off of the QVL. Should have an update on Wed.

Did he swap his OS from AM3 to AM4?

Ad is just before post to OS handover...maybe needs a clean install?

The other possibility is memory problems...this platform is especially prone at the moment...especially with 16GB sticks that are not qualified for the board..

Thanks for the replies. The SSD he was going to install it on is brand new and formatted. The only things carried over from the previous build are the GPU, PSU, H100i and case. Can't get any signal to the monitor at all. Tried HDMI and displayport on both an ROG swift and tv; tried using a 780ti in place of the 980ti, no positive results.
RAM is 4x8GB by the way.

How early during the POST? If at the beginning going F9 then Ad that would mean DRAM issues.

Try to use only 1 RAM module in the 2nd slot next to the CPU.

That's true...single stick is supposed to go in A2...

Last 3 builds had no anti static bag. A lot of manufacturers are shying away from it because it is actually causing more problems. Why you ask, believe it or not most people take the board out of the bag then sit it right on top of the bag they just pulled it out of. By design the exterior of the bag will take and hold a static charge. Poof, mistake #1. Mistake number two is being at an electrically different potential than the board then handling it. If the board gets a charge floating on it and you think you are doing the right thing and reach in and grab it with a grounded anti static kit poof, mistake number 2. Its the general consensus these days that for the most part nearly everyone will reach and grab the board bare handed. So long as you didn't just run across a carpet dragging your feet you are at the same potential as the board.

Add to this that boards are not as sensitive as they once were. There is a fair amount of EMI protection at work on modern boards.
