Need the right profile for my RAM

Hello,

i have recently build this pc:

Ryzen 2700X
Crosshair VII X470
RAM GSkill TridentZ 3733Mhz 1,35V
PSU HX850W

I try to set the D.O.C.P. profile but the system seems not stable, Windows 10 gave me some errors related to the memories, the sistem to doesn't start everytime, it takes seconds.

Some tips? Ty.

3733 MHz is a long shot on Ryzen. This tool will help you out immensely: DRAM Calculator for Ryzen™ 1.4.0

I'd probably shoot for 3600 MHz first. Then try to work your way up to 3733 MHz. You may find that you get better performance with, for example, 3600 and tighter timings than 3733 and looser timings.

EDIT: Also, before you mess your system up or corrupt important system files, use something like MemTest86 to test your memory stability before booting into your OS.

I'd say good warning on that meddling with RAM can cause OS corruption 🙂 . I've found Macrium Reflect invaluable and it's the best price; FREE .

Usually I setup OS clean on xyz HW, image up with Macrium and can restore back in minutes 🙂 . I'd opt to keep backup on another drive or system just to back sure they don't get corrupted from meddling on live system 🙂 .

I don't use MemTest86, HCI Memtest in OS and GSAT on Linux Mint has had it covered for me IMO 🙂 .

As above, you need to aim lower. Even then, 3600 can be tough on some CPU infinity fabric depending on memory density.

Silly question, but is there some type of Intel dram calculator?

The G.Skill DDR4 Trident Z 3733Mhz DDR4 Ram not Optimized for AMD Ryzen 7 systems. It optimized for Intel systems. AMD Ryzen 7 systems tend to perform better with tighter ram timing settings.
I would recommend returning the 3733 ram or selling it then get G Skill 3200 Flare X DDR 4 ram . The 3200 Flare X could be run at tighter timing settings 14, 14, 14, 14, 34, 48 @ 1.38 volts. I am running G Skill Flare X 3200 DDR 4 ram at 3400 MHz with tight timing settings listed above.

If you stay with the 3733 ram then I would run it at the 3200 MHz or 3400 MHz with tight timings with 1.38 volts. Tight ram timing settings:14, 14, 14, 14, 34, 48.

You can google G Skill Flare X settings to get good 3200 MHz and 3400 MHz timings settings. Then you can manually set your memory timing settings.

Just my 2 cents, hope this helps

Hi,

thx to all for the tips.

I found these RAM: F4-3400C16D-16GSXW

are these optimized for Ryzen?

Yes that is "Ryzen optimised".

Before I give my take on the situation, may you answer questions for me?

If you buy another RAM kit what will happen with the GSkill Trident Z 3733MHz? will you sell these? make a loss of money?

Yep.

I will sell it on ebay or anywhere.

I can make 150€ easily.

For the loss of money, that kit was for my old intel systems.
