My TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI) boots windows but won't go into BIOS

So I can boot up into Windows 11 without issue, but for some reason when I hit DEL or F2 during boot up it just goes to a black screen. Only way out of that is to just hit the RESET button and it will boot into Windows. What could cause this strange behaviour? How can I diagnose this and is there a way to force it into BIOS? Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks.

Overclocked but nothing crazy and rock solid otherwise.

Not sure this will help, but I've had that problem once or twice in the past on a Z690 board (Intel).

My way around it was when the black screen happened after DEL/F2 was to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, then it would reboot, and DEL/F2 would then take it into the BIOS.

I hope that helps.

Hi @glaucus73

Clear the CMOS and test at Optimised Defaults, do not enable EXPO or change any other parameters. Check if the issue persists.

If it does:

1. Can you confirm if the display loses signal or it simply appears to be a black screen?
2. Try removing all USB devices from the system besides the keyboard and see if the problem persists.

Thanks for the replies. I will try those out and report back.

I can now confirm that after I hir DEL/F2 to enter the BIOS, at the black screen hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL and then going back into BIOS via DEL/F2 does NOT fix it for me. Not only that, if I set there for a while I notice that my keyboard eventually become unresponsive and things like CAPS LOCK or NUM LUCK no longer toggle the indicator lights. So it seems the PC goes into a full lockup at that point. Only way forward at that point is a hard reset to reboot the system.

I'm kinda nervous about clearing the CMOS as I'm not sure what I can do at that point if I still can't enter BIOS. Will my PC still boot to Windows? I did try removing some USB devices but I'll try removing the rest and see how that goes.
