Motherboard RGB LEDs no longer light up

After finally getting everything setup for my new desktop the motherboard lights all went out. I'm referring to the aesthetic RGB lighting on the board. I've toyed with all of the setting sin the BIOS related to this (there are 2 I believe) and I can't get them to come back on. They're never on. They worked for at least a day then quit. Eventually the RGB lighting on my AMD Wraith cooler also failed to come on, so now I have absolutely no RGB lighting at all. I've tried resetting all of the plugs for these to no avail. I'm not sure what could have happened since this all started well into the software portion of my build. I also updated the BIOS to the latest here on the forums (1001), but that did not help; though my fan and temps look more like they're supposed to thanks to it.

Everything works great right now except for the lighting. If I have to replace the board I will; for the price I really want EVERYTHING to work.

Any ideas? I've already sent a support ticket to ASUS, but no response yet.

Thanks, lol. I have tried that disable/reenable thing, unplugged the PSU for long time, all kinds of stuff. I'm sure there's even more things that have been tried by others and so forth but it is one stubborn problem.

This is stuck in my head now ... indefinitely.

*taps foot angrily, simultaneously humming the song* lol

Wow, I would take that as a win myself. Still, it suggests it's not a hardware problem -- at least I'm hoping so.

We used to hear the name Bahz from ASUS thrown around, and reports of this or that with regard to this issue and this was prior to BIOS 1201. If this was a BIOS fix, I'm wondering why it wasn't put in the "mini-beta" 1201 software. It just seems like there is way too much evasion on this issue to suit me.

I doubt it. Infinitely more likely that they haven't tracked the issue down yet.

But thanks for trying, MCCSolutions. Glad something worked for you!

Sometimes it's like the RGB dying is a symptom, and the underlying "disease" can be different things. For instance, many of us don't even have 3rd party RGB programs. It's just one day we turned on our computers and the lights no longer worked.

I understand what your saying however a complete hardware Failure or short of the RGB Lights is highly unlikely without foul play, especially for the number of systems affected. I decided to dig a little deeper in IRQ/Logs and found not so clearly information as to what was amist. Furthermore if your system has all the required/recommended ASUS Software installed and you uninstall AURA without errors then its likely that the program(s) were never installed properly to begin with.

If you can attempt to revive your systems RGB with any sequence of software its worth a try vs RMA. I would go as far as hard-clearing the bios(no power + clr cmos + short coin cell) and (re)installing the latest Bios. I have had many bugs and issues with this board not just the RGB and even flashing the SAME bios back helped. I am currently very happily enjoying my LEDs, multiple days, multiple restarts, changes, power failures etc. I dont think that if I could reproduce the error I would want too though lol

Oh, and by the way: after reinstalling Aura it goes to an error when you try to start it. Then it calls up a browser window to report the error. Interestingly, the web page tells me it's a "new" error (even though it's happened prior to today as well) and that it's on a X99 board. ASUS again has not set things up properly so even the error pingback doesn't send them anything they can use. They're probably scratching their heads wondering why they aren't getting data on errors for the X370 -- well, the software thinks it's running on an X99 is why. [SIGH]

is the Aura program exe running with administrative privileges? Did you see a brief black Command Prompt window? Were there any promps with the errors and what did they say? The browser information is irrelevant. Did you restart after installation? Does the AsRogAuraService.exe have system full control under the security tab? Is the sha1 Digital Signature showing up? What OS are you running? Have you tried stopping the Service and restarting it? Is the RPC working properly?

Now you're just spinning your wheels. The software installed with none of that nonsense and used to work -- then didn't. All that stuff is just putting lipstick on a pig. Your method isn't universal, and isn't a fix. All the mumbo jumbo questions challenging those who disagree with you won't change that.

A real FIX is: the problem goes away using the factory software and even without the software the mobo lights work on their own. You haven't done any of that in a way that helps anyone with the problem and hence: you haven't fixed it.

I'm done. Have fun but it's not the answer. You need to calm down a bit and realize you haven't cracked the case, Sherlock.

So basically you haven't done more than uninstall and reinstall, and your unwilling to do any advanced troubleshooting of which you refer to as "mumbo jumbo"...

Sounds to me like your content with your lights not working and dont want any ones else to work either, then you continue to invoke some stick measuring contest as if anyone cares. You are basically a counter productive waste of time.
