Missing M2 SSD Options in UEFI BIOS

Good morning,

i´m a bit confused about an issue that my m2 is missing in the UEFI BIOS settings. The only place i can find that device is in the boot options but are there no settings for it or informations like failures, SMART informations etc...

Any ideas? Or is this still a but? HDD informations are fine...

Thank you 🙂

If your M.2 is an NVMe drive, you will not find it listed by name along side the other drives in your system because it is not a SATA device. It is a PCIe device and generally only visible by name as a configurable hardware device inside of the BIOS with RAID enabled. If you are using AHCI, you may find BIOS settings for it (like 2X or 4X mode) but not the device itself by name. Likewise, you generally don't see your other PCIe devices like WiFi, NIC or GPU enumerated and identified by name in the BIOS.

So the only option for such a device is the boot order, right? And yes, it´s a M.2 NVMe drive 🙂

More or less, yes. I am not sure what the BIOS options are with AMD. With my Intel board there is an option to run NVMe at 2X or 4X. I can see the NVMe drives in the Secure Erase list and Boot Options. The only other place I can see them listed by name is when I have RAID/RST enabled and look in the list of available drives for an array. With the option set to AHCI that goes away.
