Only issue with running 4400mhz ram is you cant run it 1:1 with the Infinity Fabric. I'm curious if you are seeing diminishing returns running it that fast with default IF frequency.

I did a 3D mark Test (latest version) and my score (CPU only not GPU) went from a 9100 to a 10500 because I went from 3733MHz to 4400Mhz

So based on that it would seem I have over a 15% increase on the benchmark.

Not sure how you ever got a 9100. I never saw that even when my ram was 2133mhz. I would like to see your 10500 though. Here is mine at 3800mhz CL16.

When I get home tonight I will run another Time Spy to show you. I have a GTX 1080 (not a 2080 like you have) and I had 32GB of memory at the time when I got my score to 9100 and was running the 32GB at 3733Mhz with CL14 timings.

I downgrade to 16GB and was able to get the 4400Mhz with CL18 timings and the big boost in score.

One more note, I almost got 4600Mhz stable with the same ram. Its close, I can boot up and do things etc.... but when I start run the tests it fails after a few minutes.

So I think 4600Mhz is doable but I probably just do not have the experience to figure it out.

Several days now....ZERO crashes or anything odd going on. I just ran quick cpu-z benchmark and it looks to do very well. 2801 is a keeper for me.

3600X on a C7H with 2801.

Plus
Cpu boosts to 4400 Mhz, sometimes 4425 for a split second.
DOCP and PBO enabled.

Minus
On 2703 I was able to run my RAM at 3533 Mhz @ 16-18-18-18-38
Now they can hardly run above 3200 Mhz.

I'll try to fiddle with the settings and voltages some more, but 2801 seems to have memory limitations. And what's up with the official site? https://www.asus.com/dk/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VII-HERO/HelpDesk/

I can't see the support section atm in three different browsers.

Interesting. My 3700X has a higher score than 3800X without any overclock or PBO. Just autoboost.

Honestly do not know, I am not overclocking anything either just setting up the ram is all.
