FlareX 3200-14 Memory OC'ing

When I increase the FlareX 3200-14 (2X8GB) beyond 3333 the system actually runs a little slower! I am running the 2700X @ 4.0 GHz and using Handbrake to convert a Blu-Ray movie to MP4 as my test case. I have tried 3200 XMP Defaults, 3333 Stilt, and 3466 Stilt. At 3466 things go the wrong way! The time used by Handbrake to complete the conversions are 43:34, 42:42 and 42:55, respectively. I have also tried the 1usmus calculated settiings which are similar to the built in Stilt stuff but the actual performance is only marginally different. Am I doing something wrong or is this the expected 2700X behavior? I am trying to get improved performance before jacking up the CPU.

Of course increasing the clock speed to 4.15 GHz with the memory at 3333 has more dramatic results with Handbrake completing the task in 41:20. However, the max core temp reaches 70C during the conversion and the Vcore reaches ~1.308V. I haven't tried 4.2 GHz with the 2203 BIOS but it appears the system runs better (less voltage required when OC'ing) than it did under the previous BIOS's?

You are attempting to exceed your RAMs rated frequency and this is never guaranteed. Although not all 2700X CPUs can reach a 4.2GHz Overclock, many can with the correct cooling and 70C with Vcore at 1.308V is very good.(keep vcore as low as possible)
With a few more Bios tweaks, (LLC,SOC etc) Try for 4.2GHz and see how you go under load as I think your cooler would cope.
