More than likely, but probably not the a Crosshair 6 or Crosshair 7.RobrPatty wrote:
You don't say. It will not work with C6H or C7H? There is ppl on overclock.com that have it working on both.Syaoran wrote:
It might. I just think it is highly unlikely based on my exoeriences with a C6H. The C7H isn't much differe t and doesn't improve upon the previous design much at all. It shouldn't be hard to do on Gigabyte's X470 Gaming 7 though as well as with MSI's X470 offerings.RobrPatty wrote:
Thanks will keep it(info) tucked away for further use if needed.RobrPatty wrote:
I think you are right Syaoran. Here are some stats I found on MicroCenter web site:
Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE X470 AORUS Gaming motherboards based on the AMD X470 Chipset, support 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Processors. These selections of boards come with new ID design and covers a wide spectrum of price points and features including Gen3 PCIe lanes, future proof connectivity with USB Type-C as well as improved Audio capability while providing all the performance and novelties of the new chipset. The motherboards represent the 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Processors' performance on this new AMD X470 platform by means of an updated power design, offering the best experience to the users who care about performance.
Where as the Crosshair VII Hero AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard only says:
ROG Crosshair VII Hero wears an informative silkscreen that makes it easy to identify native ports for your drives and peripherals, and also which PCI Express and memory slots to populate for best system performance
The MSI board said basicly the same as the C7H board. So the Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard is the only board that says it supports 2nd gen ryzen. thanks Syaoran

The C6H had the Pinnacle Ridge AGESA with in UEFI many months ago. It supports "Performance Enchancer/Precision Boost Override" just like C7H for Pinnacle Ridge / Ryzen Gen 2. Few UEFI back it also had "Stealth mode" added, another feature of C7H. For all intents and purposes it probably is more developed than the C6H in regard to UEFI.
RobrPatty what you have quoted off the Microcenter site is "Marketing blurb" nothing more. The C7H has better mosfets on VRM than C6H, besides extra 2 phases for VCORE. The mosfet's actually have internal temp sensor so monitoring data for them is better. They also improved the layout of VRM phases for better thermals. The C7H also has a 256Mbit bios chip, double what C6H has, see this article on benefit.

So let me get this clear you are saying that 2700X Ryzen Gen 2 should work on C6H correct?

Yes. Plenty of owners of that combo, check out OCN C6H thread (link).
