My board is the Asus ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (WI-FI), firmware version 3801.
I have two internal nvme drives and an internal SSD.
nvme0 and the SSD each contain an Ubuntu (20.04) Linux OS.
I'm now installing the new Ubuntu (22.04) OS on my mvme1 drive -- or trying to.
But the Ubuntu installer installs to the first drive it sees (nvme0), no matter what you tell it to do. So I need to be able to disable or otherwise disengage both nvme0 and the SSD, so that the installer doesn't see them or know they exist.
Can I do that somewhere in the UEFI interface? I already tried un-checking the boot and efi flags of nvme0 and the SSD from within the installer, that didn't help.
My only other alternative seems to be to open up my desktop workstation, go into the board, unscrew the plate over nvme0, and yank nvme0 out from its slot. And also to unplug the SSD. I'd like to avoid all that, if possible.
