Hi everyone,
After realizing I was over 3 years behind, I decided to update my BIOS (1004 to 3702), using the EZUpdate feature on AI Suite 3. It's particularly tricky because of my setup, the Bios reset has also reset the PCIE settings, so I had to plug the GPU straight to the motherboard. Unfortunately, there was a power cut right when it was displayed "do not turn off" on reboot.
When I'm turning it on, it's now starting everything (RAM, fans, GPU, SSD, keyboard) but there's not display on my monitor. And when I want to turn the PC off, the power button doesn't work and I need to use the PSU switch.
I tried to reupload the BIOS with a flashdrive, and it seems to work (the light blinks for 3 to 5 min and then turns off), except it's not fixing my problem. I've removed all my components, CPU included and reinstalled. I connected the 2 pins to drain the CMOS battery and reinstalled the BIOS. I tried with previous versions of the BIOS.
Note that the CPU doesn't seem to heat.
Can you help me to diagnose and find a solution?
Thanks
Here's my setup:
Motherboard: Asus Rog B550i-Gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x16GB DDR4 3200
GPU: RTX 3070 FE on Riser PCIE gen 3
PSU: EVGA 650GM Gold (650W)
SSD: Crucial P3 Plus (M.2)
Case: Velka 5 mini-ITX

Hello DalekMk
Did you use the bios renamer, or manually rename the bios file on your usb flash drive to SB550IG.CAP?

Hi Nate152, thanks for your answer.
Both. For the first file I used the renamer, as Windows was still working, but for the next ones I renamed them manually after reformatting the usb key.

Hi again,
I've tried again with the bios renamer and it's the same result than manually.

Hard to say for sure what's happening, but the power outage seemed to have wreaked some havoc. Reflashing the bios should get it going again, unless there was some unexpected damage.
Sometimes after a power outage, turning off the psu switch and unplugging it from the wall socket for a few minutes can resolve issues.
Check your usb flash drive is formatted to the .Fat32 file system. It's preferrable to have nothing on the usb flash drive except the bios file.
When using bios flashback, shut down your pc and let the psu switch on, then proceed with the update.
Any luck getting it to flash or booting with display?

Hi, I tried to plug back in the GPU after a new reset, some smoke started to escape from the motherboard, so I turned off the current. Not trying anything anymore, I'll see which components I can save when I'm back closed to an ingineer...
Thanks though

i will tell you why it does it ......if you look threw the bios list .....and man it sounds like a big one ....you might see bios versions that will say ..... YOU MUST UP DATE TO THIS VERSION BEFORE GOING ANYHIGHER ...pretty sure this is why its failing ....i am 95% certain ...you just cant jump from og bios to the latest ...there is code for the cpu you gotta have from past bios version as you go up those agesa(not sure on that spelling) updates for cpu.....
so go threw the list and get the first agesa update bios version you see ...then start looking at every update that says it has agesa cpu code with it .......some of them you can skip i do know that ..but a lot of those agesa updates needed to be done before jumping to a higher one
