Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

Picked up this board on Tuesday. It was intended to replace my Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3. I was very excited to experience PBO, a fully fleshed out BIOS, and better memory compatibility. Instead what I got was worse memory compatibility and overall instability. Have NZXT CAM and AiDA64 running at the same time? Black screens. Random mouse stuttering is frustrating. And on top of all this I could only run my 3000 CL15 RAM kit (F43000C15D-GTZ -- I know it's not B-Die, I bought this memory before Ryzen was released) at 2666 MHz with insanely loose timings whereas I could run it at 2933 MHz 14-13-13-13-33 with very tight subtimings on my Gigabyte Board. And yes, I've used Ryzen DRAM Calc before. I spent my entire Tuesday night and part of Wednesday trying different settings to get the memory to run at higher speeds but to no avail. I've swapped my Gigabyte board back in.

Seriously considering returning this motherboard and sticking with what I got. It's a shame too because it's a beautiful and well-made motherboard that checks all of the boxes for me when it comes to features. The BIOS is incredible too. I remain hopeful that BIOS ver. 4012 is released soon and rectifies these issues. I want to love this motherboard, ASUS. pls.

Pretty sure you installed your RAM wrong. I had the same issue with my non Samsung B-die RAM, changed slots and was able to run 3200MHz. Read the manual on how to properly install RAM. You don't need Samsung B-Die anymore for Ryzen CPUs, the latest AGESA BIOS Updates made non Samsung B-die RAM to work at their rated overclocked speed. My Corsair Vengeance LPX is using Hynix memory for example.

Just looked at the manual. I had the RAM installed in slots B1 and A1, not B2 and A2. If that turns out to be the problem I'll definitely have a good laugh at myself.

Can't wait to get home and try this out. Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: That was it. Lol how embarrassing. Thanks again for the tip. Kit now running at XMP timings (with a few subtimings tightened up) completely stable.

Flashed 4018. Still getting black screens when NZXT CAM starts up. It's crucial as I use it to control the fans on the radiator for my video card.

Don't use CAM with other hardware/software monitoring programs. I had a Kraken X61 and I also had black screens, I turned off MSI Afterburner and uninstalled ASUS AI SUITE and that fixed the issue.

I understand that monitoring programs are the culprit, but CAM is absolutely necessary as I use it to control the four fans on the radiator for my GPU. I have an RX Vega 56 with an Alphacool Eiswolf 240mm AIO. The waterblock on the video card blocks the fan connector on the video card, so the only way to control the fans is via the Smart Hub built into my case (NZXT H700i) and use CAM software or plug it into the motherboard. The problem with plugging it into the motherboard is that I can't have the fans react to the GPU Core temperature.

I'm not sure why ASUS can't figure this out. I had no problems running Aida64 and CAM and sometimes HWinfo all at the same time with my Gigabyte Board.

I think GIGABYTE AORUS boards have the ability to monitor PCIE temperature which means you should be able to directly control the case fan in relation to the PCIE temperature. It's one of the reasons why I was tempted in getting the GIGABYTE AORUS GAMING 5 since I believe ASUS requires you to have an ASUS branded GPU to allow case fan operations in relation to the GPU temperature. Also the GIGABYTE board has way more fan headers 8 vs 5 on the ASUS board. But I settled for this ASUS board instead due to better VRM components.

Updated to bios 4018 and tried the latest nzxt cam version 3.6.2, just like the rest in the cam's feedback and reddit forum, the cam settings will reset to default whenever I boot up the pc. Tried using cam version 3.5.9, black screens came back almost instantly. Anything below 3.5.9, it wld display incorrect temperatures if I choose to run motherboard bios 4008 & up. Last known working solution was to use the initial bios 0225 and cam version 3.3.5


If anyone has suggestions, do let me know. I may just decide to give up using CAM and go fully connected by mobo headers

I would go this route or just refund/exchange your watercooler for a big air cooler which is what I did. I've had many headaches dealing with CAM that I opted for an Noctua NH-D15 instead, obviously not aesthetically pleasing for many people but it's practical and gets the job done. Cooling my 2700X.
