Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

Hello together,

I'm also an owner of the X470-F Gaming. Unfortunately I recently ran into an issue which I don't seem to be able to solve. Maybe someone here had a similar issue or an idea about what I can try.

I bought a new M2 Storage and wanted to change my boot order. My current SSD has Windows 10 x64 installed. While trying to enter the BIOS settings, I found out that it wouldn't come up. I tried everything which came to mind and what I was able to already find in Forums, Websites, Videos ... but I'm still not able to access my BIOS. The strange part is that the system is working fine. Windows is booting and I'm able to use it without any problems.

Here is a list of things I already tried:

  • Pressing, spamming, holding ESC, DEL, F2, F10, ... on start of boot
  • Using Advanced boot options in Windows and pressing "Boot to UEFI"
restarts the system but doesn't enter the BIOS. Directly boots into the OS again.

  • Flashing different BIOS Versions
  • CMOS Reset
  • removing the battery
causes me to press F1 to run the setup, which only boots the system instead of entering the BIOS settings

  • Swap banks of memories
  • Completely remove hard disks
  • Using different keyboard
  • Using diffrerent USB ports for the keyboard
  • Starting without a screen attached

Additionaly I feel like the screen for setting up my BIOS after a CMOS reset looks a little strange (except the part that I seem to have 2 keyboards attached 🙂 Somehow my mouse is also counted as a keyboard. I tried everything I described also without a mouse and then there is only 1 keyboard).

Shouldn't there also be a company logo at the top? I thought I had it before ...

I'm not sure when this started because I don't access the BIOS that regularly. And because of the CMOS reset my timings for the memory are not valid anymore and without accessing the BIOS I can't fix that either...

I would be greatful if anyone had an idea what I can still try. Else I find myself using the RMA.

Thx and br

Hey guys are the temps normal for my setup im running a stock 3600 on the x470 f strix with a 280mm clc and im getting like 67c on cinbench and around 72c on aida64 at least what it says in the ryzen master but when i check hwinfo the temps jump around like crazy from 70 to 80c on the tdie and idle is 35-45 which seems kinda high for an aio

In my case, when you change the startup time in the bios, it automatically changes f2 for the suprim key, also in the startup options it tells you if you want to see the asus logo on full screen or the post text, and we can only see the m.2 in the bot menu but no other features within the bios, I just think you need to read your manual more to configure the equipment properly.

If you still have problems when entering the bios, try a newer keyboard, sometimes the old ones have incompatibility with new boards.

Running a second m.2 nvme drive, would mean my only second m.2 would run at x4 sata speeds, due to bandwidth limitations right? or would it effect other m.2 nvme aswell.

The m.2_2 port is limited to 2x in pci_e 3.0 mode, in the manual it indicates it.

Hi guys. I'm running Ryzen 1700X along with Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB 3000MHz Hynix dies memory on this board.
I'm gonna format soon, and start overclocking CPU and Memory. Could you please advise me if I'm running the best possible BIOS version regarding overclocking capabilities, without cutting them down by ASUS in newer/older BIOS versions? I haven't started to overclock yet, and my system was running rock stable for over a year on BIOS 5204 AGESA 1.0.0.3 dated to 2019/07/30.

Heads up.
Latest available Audio drivers for Win10 on Asus website's have support for DTS !
Tested and working flawlessly without any other "hack".
Only issue that Audio Console is not working any more. But, who cares !
A gift to the X470-F Gaming users or a mistake from Asus ?

Hi what is the maximum amount of memory that should be used with this board? I have both 2x8 and 2x16 both are DDR-2666. Can I go up to 64 GB or even higher?

Couldn't find a relevant thread. but what's the Bios situation regarding the Zen 3 compatabilty for x470 boards? There's also a new agesa that improves inter core latency while the x470 is still on agesa 1.0.0.6.
