Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

this batch will create a .txt with UUID, MAC and S/N:
https://github.com/LongSoft/FD44Editor/issues/4

add those values into BIOS file with FD44Editor:
https://github.com/LongSoft/FD44Editor/releases

Regarding your 2nd question:
No, I don't think thats possible.
Loading a "crippled" .CMO would result in an error message I assume.:p

Edit: you're thinking that my 3700x optimized defaults differ from 3900x defaults?

I've absolutely no idea. I mean, BIOS in itself is a weird thing, somehow some old settings may stick after updating it with default means, 1usmus talked about that and adviced to use a 3rd party tool that removes old BIOS completely before flashing new one. I don't know if it's true, but I'm pretty sure 1usmus knows enough about it.

So I might imagine that your defaults might differ.

How can I edit a CMO file to disable SSC?
The file posted here could not be loaded from my bios because my cpu is not supported.
I have a 2600X.

yeah, and sometimes a second flash + cmos reset can help as well.
using flashrom will completely erase the previous bios. that's for sure.

I take it then I shouldn't be using the EZ flash in the BIOS? When I did that last time it took seconds so I am thinking it is not completely overwriting Also where is the Clear CMOS jumper? The Manual doesn't say, it just says it's there. Looks different than the Clear RTC RAM or is that the same?

I think your CMO file is fine for 3900x but I will test reflashing not using ezflash and then resetting CMOS to see if I can get mah speed back

On a side note, thanks for all your help here. You sir (or ma'am), are a gentleman and a scholar!

that specific .CMO only works with zen2 and that specific bios version - since it was saved/created using a zen2.
no idea how to edit .CMO

USE AT OWN RISK!

5406mod BIOS
Mod: Spread Spectrum is now visible and disabled by default
How-to inside the .zip
Not compatible with EZ flash!

Have fun!
Special thanks to schmak

I wonder if fractional bus speeds like 100.5MHz can be unlocked for this board? I've never had any luck getting 101 to work, but maybe 100.5 would.

No thank you!

Incase folks are wondering, this fixed my sustained boost issue on a 3900x, which honestly could have been from the ezflash instead of doing a full wipe and restore.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY for each site linked. It's worth it to be patient. Also I couldn't get the MS-DOS boot disk to work on anything larger than 2GB flash drive. I still had a windows XP swag 256MB drive from MSFT I used and it worked great, wasn't even that slow.

Obligatory, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you follow the steps the risk should be minimal, but folks these days like to skim instead of reading and that could hurt you there.

Lastly again, THANK YOU to Topfn. Great job on helping me out here!
