Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

You mean 4207 (PinnaclePi 1.0.0.6) I guess - which is the go-to BIOS for Zen+.
Only flash a comboAM4 BIOS if you're upgrading to Zen2.

If you don't need CSM, you can try to disable it in the BIOS - I think that's the reason for the _ on the boot screen.

Thanks for the answer.
Tested with CSM on, off, Legacy + UEFI. And all options continue to occur the same. And also tested after the 3 options with clean CMOS.

But don't worry, that's a minor issue.
What really matters is the juice with memories, OC and options working properly.

Thanks, I recently found this chart:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wmsTYK9Z3-jUX5LGRoFnsZYZiW1pfiDZnKCjaXyzd1o/edit#gid=2112472...

It states that our boards are T Topology, is that better for using higher capacity RAM and all 4 DIMM slots? Most of the newer boards and the Crosshair and Pro boards seem to be daisy chain.

Also what does the difference in caps mean? 5K MIL caps on our board vs 5K APAQ caps on the Pro and 10K FP caps on the Crosshair and 10K Black Metallic caps on the newer x570 Crosshairs?

Hi Everyone
It's been awhile in posting any updates.
But thought i would.
I purchased some ram that is on the qvl for the 3000 cpus for our mobo for when i put a 3600x on it this next spring.

So the ram i bought is the G.skill trident z royal gold 3600cl16
16 16 16 36 1.35v and out of curiosity decided to try it with my 2600x.
It did boot with docp and stock timings but would throw errors.

Totally expected some errors somewhere along the way but was able to get stable with ryzen dram calculator 3600 fast with timings of 14 14 15 14 28 42 @1.45v in bios but in cpu-z it shows 14 14 14 14 28 42 @1.45v
Was able to stop the errors with
Proc 60 ohms
Rtt_nom disabled
Rtt_wr dynamic off
Rtt_park auto
And the 4 cad bus's set to auto.
It now runs stable.
Not much change in cinebench scores but aida64 extreme shows reads, writes, copy of 3000 to 6000 mb/s more with a latency of 59.4 ns

So as black friday is approaching anybody still running a 2000 series can buy and run 3000 series ram with the right settings if the price is right.

Specs
X470 f gaming
2600x
Corsair H110i
G.skill trident z royal gold 3600 cl16
16 16 16 36
Zotac gtx 1070 ti

When is the 3950X 16 core cpu coming out? I hope it doesn't overheat on this board!

Nov.25th
Shouldnt. VRMs are pretty good. 60A x 6 for a 360A max.

Nice, do you think a 850W Thermaltake power supply will be enough for that CPU? (I'm using a 1060 6 GB for my GPU.)

More than enough

Although the VRM is decent per se, probably it will overheat if you load 16 cores with something heavy, because it's not all about VRM, it's also about its cooler which on our board is pretty bad.
On the other hand, if you have money for a 3950X, you should also have money for a Crosshair Hero.

Thanks, do you think water cooling is a necessity for that cpu?

I have the same question, hard to say without some 3rd party reviews. I did some research on my Noctua NH-15, and it is very comparable and/or better than many water cooling solutions, so it should be perfectly acceptable for this chip, but waiting to see those reviews. Do reviewers get early chips anymore? It seems to me they have cut this release so close to the holiday season that it might help to get some chips out to the reviewers in advance of the availability date.
