Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

Thanks for the info 🙂 Sorry for late reply I had some problems with account , it didn't want to post messages for some strange reason.

I read this forum from page 92 when bios 4602 was released I seems that that bios has a lot of negative comments (unstable, higher temps 7 degree increase in load) but someone mentions that that bios fixed PBO and fan rpm (stuck to 0% or 100%). What about BIOS 4804? There is not a lot of comments of that BIOS becasue 3 weeks came BIOS 5007 (negative comments) but all comments I saw on 4804 seems positive, someone says that is the best BIOS since 4207. So is it safe to update to that BIOS with R5 1600? That should be my final stand BIOS with Ryzen first gen...

As always that is totally up to you.
I won't give any recommendations over 4602 as I have no experience with anything over 4602 except for the current 5204 where it will stay till i get a 3000 series.
Good Luck.

Yes. 2700X on 4804. It's fine. I updated from 4207 to 4804 and the only issue that may or may not be real is that my CPU temp went up. I say may or may not though because I live in the Southeast United States (gets hot/humid) so those temp increases could have been a result of external factors.

Closing thought: If on 4207, stick with 4207. If not, upgrade to 4804 but not beyond.

This is what I was wondering about- is 4207 better or 4804, for the 2700X?

Also, whats the best cpu to upgrade to if I only want to stay with air cooling? I did some builds on Digital Storm, and they wouldn't let me go beyond the 3700X if I stay with air cooling. They also told me I shouldn't get more than 32 GB of memory.

Hello

Where to find temperature limit or PPT limit on X470F bios?

For those on Zen 2, how are your temps on 5220 BIOS? I'm currently running a 3800X with a custom loop and they look pretty bad, like 90C+ bad under heavy load.

Are you for real? Custom water cooling on 3800x 90C under heavy load? Bro, I am on air with Noctua NH D15s, and my 3700x hit 88C in less than 3 mins in Aida64, and slowly work it way to 95C during Aida64 stress test. One Cinbebench run yield 70C to 72C. Surfing on the web max temp is 70C. Gaming max temp is 70C to 80C. I see 1.4V to 1.5V more than 1.3 and below because none of my apps and games are pushing 8c/16t to the max.Ambient is 24C to 26C. The cpu is 65W TDP rated like what the ****. The only I can think what is causing high temp is the voltage. high voltage = high heat.

I offset negative .75 and temp is better under Aida64. max temp on Aida64 is 78C to 80C. Surfing on the web is below 65C . Max gaming temp is not even work it way up to 80C.

1.4v to 1.5v is like LN2 overclocking voltage. No air or water can handle that 1.4v to 1.5v heat coming from the CPU, bro. Try offset negative .50 to .100 to see if it low the temp without performance impact a lot. If I do negative offset .100 my performance will hit in single and multi core workload , but temp is much better since cpu is at 1.3v
