Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

So there's my answer to the question of whether this motherboard is good for overclocking 2 RAM modules.
The answer is HELL TO THE NO.
G.Skill 2*8 3200CL14, latest DRAM Calculator by 1usmus.
The highest frequency for the Safe preset - 3400 MHz, it loads Windows but can't get through TestMem without errors.
The highest frequency for the Fast preset - 3333 MHz, all the same.
And when I set it to 3466 MHz or higher - there's that sweet black screen and my road to CLRTC jumper.
Yeah it can load @ 3600, but CL22 - like seriously?
So if you want to really overclock your expensive RAM - better go for at least Crosshair Hero or something not from ASUS.

there’s no dual bios or flashback support with the X470-F.

Your only option is to RMA or purchase another board that has said capabilities. *The bios chip is soldered into the board**

My G.Skill 2x16GB on Prime Pro, very similar to X470-F, max 3400MHz. On C7H 3800c16 1T 60+GB/s bandwidth. 64.5ns latency. Yes, C7H is better in that regard.
R9 7950X - ASUS X670E Crosshair Extreme (bios 0803) - 32GB HyperX Fury Beast @6200c32 - Corsair H150i Pro - ASUS RTX3080 TUF OC V2 - Phanteks P400A - Corsair RM850 - WD SN850

2x16 is completely different, but here it's 2x8 and it should be much better than that.

Right, 2x8 should perform better than 2x16 with the 2700x?

Will be about the same, but you cant use the garbage XMP and do the timings manually. It will definitely be better than 4x8GB, but if you don't need 32GB, go with 2x8GB.

I'm not sure why the size would make a difference? I am running 2x16 Samsung B die 3200 CL14 with a 2700x and zero problems. Didn't even have to make manual adjustments after applying the XMP/DOCP profile.

Now 4x8 could be a problem, Zen and Zen+ don't seem to like 4 sticks of RAM, I had that and couldn't get it to hold the XMP profile. Moved it to my Plex rig with a 1600 and downclocked it to 2866 to keep it stable.

Dual Rank memory overclocks significantly worse than Single Rank.
So unless your 16 GB stick is somehow single rank - it won't overclock nearly as good as single rank.

Hello, I have strange problem. On back of my mobo I have connected wireless usb adapter and it works great. If I connect USB stick on front panel of my case and start to use usb stick my internet speed becomes very slow. What could this be? I am still on BIOS 4204 and I am using my old windwos installation from my previous mbo. Should I update BIOS and reinstall Windows? Also when updating BIOS I just put it on stick and update through BIOS, as far as I seen there si no bridge BIOS so I can safely update to latest version?
