Asus Strix X470-F Gaming owners thread

AniChatt
Level 9
Hello guys, I am starting this thread for all Stix X470-F owners to discuss their overclock settings, issues etc. So that everyone get help quickly in a organised way. Installed my old 1600x in this mobo with 4011 bios and flareX 3200 with default docp and it works just fine without any issues so far. One thing to mention The board pushes 1.15v soc default docp profile. Is it normal seems a bit high for me as I have upgraded from B350-F gaming.
However a small issue I believe, the asus lighting control is not behaving normal. I mean just after login to windows it is taking a bit time to start (5min) before that if I try to on Lighting Control by clicking it, program crash window appears after few seconds. But when it starts on it's own then I can open asus lighting control. Anyone experiencing similar issue???
Also tried to use older version.

Offtopic: I am planning to buy card reader and to use it on 3.0 speed I need to buy PCI Express USB 3.0 2 Ports Control Adapter Card:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-Express-USB-3-0-2-Ports-Front-Panel-with-Control-Adapter-Card-4-Pin-20-...

Will this card work (it is a noname adapter) or do I need to buy something more expensive adapter like Orico?

OT: Don't look so much at brands, but at the usb 3.0 controllers these OEM cards use. I've never had a problem with that sort of cheap hw (on USB 2.0, pci sata, etc), as long as I selected the (also cheap) IC that gave less trouble for my needs.
Some homework must be done to know if that VIA (assuming the pic corresponds) is OK, or if a asmedia, renesas, etc, is preferable for your use. Preferentially with out of the box W10 drivers.

PS: instead of the 3.5" card reader you've linked previously, I'd use instead an external one that simply connected to the usb 3.0 ports on the front of the case or rear of the MB during use. Because sometimes there's a chance that certain old photo card formats don't do well with all readers, then it would be easier (and cheaper) to swap readers.

Thanks for long answer. I already decided to buy internal card reader, I have only one more front panel place to fill and this is it, it just looks nicier :o:D

Whre can I see is my MBO compatible with VIA, asmedia and others? Googling every of them?

OT: Just id the exact IC these cards are using, and google around for issues with them under W10. Also on reviews of your card reader, if anyone points a problem with certain controllers (usually dropped connections). But if you're not planning to be constantly transferring data for long periods (like with an external hdd) and its use will be casual, you might not come across any issue.

I have the Orico PVU3-502I and it's a very good expansion card for USB 3.0 not so much expensive
and have the front panel inputs for more convenient arragements...

How did you manage to get these drivers?

Hi there, i get the drivers from the Driver Booster and the chipset drivers from AMD, some of from MSI X470 Motherboards because MSI and the Driver Booster have better driver updates of AMD components...

Just purchased this board with a ryzen 7 2700, 16gb 3000 kit, 500gb m.2, and found it will not boot up with a Kingwin 1000watt power supply. *However switching the PSU with a Corsair cx750 watt(only other PSU I had) booted the system. I am guessing since Kingwin no longer carries PSUs.

Hey All,

I’m having an issue regarding my new M.2 SSD and RTX graphics cards that I’m hoping someone can help me out with. The issue arises when I install my M.2 NVMe. Before installing, my 2 RTX’s with NVLink worked perfectly fine. After installing the M.2, my computer would not boot into windows. I would get the windows icon when booting up and the PC would freeze on that screen. So I booted into safe mode, went into my device manager and uninstalled my Nvidia RTX Cards. I then restarted my PC and it booted successfully with the M.2 SSD being recognized by windows. I installed the latest Nvidia Driver and the RTX cards show up in my device manager without any issue. However, whenever I try to access the Nvidia Control Panel, an error message pops up stating “Your display is not attached to a nvidia gpu”. I also cannot change my resolution to anything above 1920x1080 (I have a 3440x1440 screen). I made sure that my monitor is plugged into one of my cards. I also went onto GPU-Z and it shows that both NVidia cards are running in PCIe 3.0x8, which is normal.

I am using an Asus X470-F motherboard. In the user manual it states that there are 2 M.2 slots with the following features:

For AMD Ryzen 2 Generation with Radeon Vega Graphics, the M.2_1 socket supports PCIe3.0 x4 mode and SATA mode M Key design and type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices.
The M.2_2 socket supports PCIe 3.0x2 mode and SATA mode M Key design and type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices.
The M.2_2 socket shares PCIe clock with PCIe x1_1. When PCIe x1_1 or PCIe x1_3 is occupied, the M.2_2 socket can only support SATA mode.
I bought the “Western Digital WD BLACK SN750 1TB NVMe Internal Gaming SSD - Gen3 PCIe, M.2 2280, 3D NAND - WDS100T3X0C”

Currently, the M.2 SSD is installed in the M.2_1 socket. Could the issue be that I am running my two Nvidia RTX cards in SLI in PCIe3.0 x8 mode, while trying to use the M.2_1 socket that runs in PCIe3.0 x4 mode? The motherboard only has two PCIe 3.0 expansion slots (which are both occupied by the GPU’s). And I don’t want to run the SSD in SATA mode because then I won’t be using the NVMe device to its fullest. I do have a Wifi card plugged into the PCIe x1_3 slot, however, this should only affect the SSD if it is plugged into socket M.2_2, which it is not.

If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears! Thanks

Try installing one for one the cards, i had a similar problem when i have install my sound card on pcie_16x3_4x, not detected, i unplug, reset the bios, start windows, shutdown pc, i returned the pcie sound card y voila works again, now i have 2 ssd nvme in both m.2 slots and not have problems.
