Asus ROG Strix X470-F Motherboard and M.2 noticeable slow prforamnce

Hello, I have upgraded to a SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB NVMe but I noticed there is something wrong with the performance. According to the specs of my X470-F mobo. The first M.2 slot supports PCIE Gen 3 at x4 speed (See the screenshot with reference from the mobo manual). I have run a couple of storage benchmarking tools using crystaldiskmark and Samsung Magician on the 980 pro and the speed are looking quite odd! I am only getting around 900 MB for both sequential reads and writes. I also noticed Samsung Magician is recognizing my SSD running on PCIe Gen.1 x 4. I double-checked that I am running the latest versions of the SSD Firmware and the mobo BIOS.
Any insights on what would the issue?
Thanks.

The only advice i can give is try to remove and reinstall the drive, maybe some dust or whatever make poor contact
