AI Suite 3 "AI Overclocking" damaged my computer - need help

PC Specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 5800x3d
  • Nvidia 2700 super gfx card
  • Gskill flareX 32gb ram 3200 MHz ddr4 (4x8gb)
  • ASUS Crosshair Hero VII (wifi) x470
  • 750 watt psu

My computer was running fine for years....... decided to try out ASUS AI Suite 3 what could go wrong? Right? It's manufacturer software advertised for their product.

I kept the AI Overclocking settings at "TPU 1". Set the duration of each stress test to 30 seconds and selected the box for the 'additional calculations' and off to the races...

It went through the initial process and completed the first restart just fine, continued running on its own - temps staying around 65 C - i watched the stress test and bumping the CPU clock up slowly and then the screen just shut off when it got to 3850 for CPU clock which is not very high clock at all for this CPU. (For those of you that have never used this ASUS software - it "auto" tunes/overclocks your PC - requires no user input besides clicking GO ) After that the screen went blank, I figured it was just a restart as all the fans went up to full blast, lights on keyboard turned off also. At this point the AI Suite Overclocking process had only been running for under ~10 minutes.

After waiting for 45 minutes, screen still black with fans on high and RGB glowing on motherboard, still no changes.

I tried restarting the PC, clicked the reset button on case with no change; tried holding the power button down to force it - no change. Had to cycle the PSU power switch (I waited 3 minutes before turning back on).

Upon pressing the power button again to boot, the fans rev for a split second and an "8"  flashes on the little screen before going blank again. *its an 8 in the left box with the right blank - like this: [8][ ]

The RGB motherboard lights stay on, just the PC will not boot.

Things I've tried to get it running again:

  • Reset CMOS with button on back and removing battery for 5 minutes (made sure PSU cable was unplugged) - no change
  • Removed GPU, all 4 ram sticks - no change
  • Reseated the 8pin CPU power - also trying to plug in the extra 4 pin power cable and swap out both molex CPU power cables - no change
  • Reseated motherboard main power - no change
  • Tried unplugging case power button and using the one on the mother board - no change
  • Using the flashback button I updated to the newest bios at 5502. I observed the flashback light blink for 6 minutes before it turned off. I shut PSU off and booted without cmos battery with same outcome and then shut off PSU and reinstalled battery with same outcome. - no change
  • Removed and inspected pins on CPU - reseating the CPU when reinstalling.  - no change
  • Swapped power supply to a new one - no change
  • Took motherboard out of PC and onto my bench. Removed all components including brackets for CPU cooler and m.2 HDD. Tried with only the CPU plugged - no change
  • In between these portions I  experimented with flashing older bios versions and clearing CMOS - no change
  • As a final blow I replaced the CMOS battery - no change

So yeah not really sure I can do anything from here. Worked in tech for 10 years now - pretty familiar with troubleshooting. At this point I am confident this AI Suite 3 software destroyed my motherboard and/or CPU.  I plan to take my cpu to a buddies tomorrow to test and i'll know more then. I would not recommend using this software.

ASUS if your out there - please throw me a bone.

Update: confirmed the ASUS software bricked my processor and motherboard. Tested with another motherboard and processor to confirm.
