AGESA 1.2.0.0 issues

Daylight_Invade
Level 8
I am running an X570 I-Gaming which I have put in the 1.2.0.0 AGESA (BIOS version 3402).

Overall whilst things seem more stable in respect to things like USB and WHEA and NVME related issues, there are however still some strange oddities I have experienced. Keen to see what others running X570 or B550 are seeing.

In my case I have noticed that the board runs a lot hotter in idle. Running a stress test for example actually cools the processor with my AIO installed which is totally counter intuitive.

C8HW BIOS 3204 update is out and apparently no-longer in beta.

downloaded it earlier, have the same settings i mentioned above and they still work.

next thing to try is to remove the negative offset on the vcore and see if i start getting whea errors and high temps/vcore voltages

also worth trying to see if i can get 2000fclk now, although i cant see it tbh

anyone noticed any improvements now that the bios is out of beta

2000? I can't get past code 07 at 1900. Hasn't changed with this version either.

yeah i still cant get 2000, i managed to get 1933 for one boot but it was very laggy so dropped it back to 1900 and its fine so no changes to the memory controller at all.

Does seem a bit more stable though, not getting anywhere near as many WHEA errors, also appears that its not as warm at idle with auto vcore. They must have done at least some VRM optimisation.

really wish they would put out more detailed release notes

Ironically, after reading an account of 2000 working but not 1900, I tried it and I was able to boot at 2000. But, the WHEA errors accumulated very quickly on boot. As I backed the fclk down each step, it became less and less stable, until I got code 07 at 1900. Also ironic is I have never had a stable system with the 4000 RAM kit I have. Most of the time, it won't even POST at 4000 and I get errors at 3800. I was able run it at 4000 with the 2000 fclk. But as I stepped down, it wouldn't run that fast anymore.

Ultimately, I've had to back it down to 3600/1800. The dream is dead, I guess.

I'm still having same very weird WHEA and page fault errors which come randomly every few days, so I don't think all the VRM optimisation is done.

In my case I have just changed my memory over (for primarily aesthetic reasons - RGB), so lets see if I get more compatibility moving forward, however in my case I am on the edge of putting in a fresh RMA with the 5950x.

Here are some problems I've encountered:

- For some reason BCLK is stuck at 99.8 on auto and when manually entering in 100.0. This was fine on BIOS 4007.

- PBO sets max temperature at 75 degrees and ignores manual attempts to increase this, resulting in significantly worse performance than auto/disabled. Again, this did not happen on BIOS 4007.

- DOCP profile works but manually entering in RAM speed and timings will fail to boot, even if they're exactly the same as DOCP values (setting everything to auto will also fail). BIOS 4007 would boot with manual timings but training would take a really long time and performance/latency was terrible.

PC is CH7 WIFI, 5800x, and 32 GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo.

Im still waiting for a stable Bios (there is a beta) for the new agesa 1.2.0.0

i wanna try my ram at 3600, because its unstable now..and im running at 3200.

I noticed that on latest BIOS PBO boost on my 5800X wont go past 5025mhz even if you max it out.

BIOS 5809 (AGESA 1.1.8.0) I was able to run my 5800X up to (225mhz) 5075mhz rock stable. I could run it as high as I wanted but past (275mhz) 5125mhz it would crash.

BIOS 5822/5837(AGESA 1.2.0.0) both have PBO boost locked at 5025mhz. Even if I put in 200mhz boost which should be 5050mhz(2850mhz +200mhz) it wont go past 5025mhz. Even going to 250mhz boost nothing, still 5025mhz.

Was wondering if anyone else has seen this with there 5800X or any other 5000 series CPUs?
