9E Q-code showing after BIOS update to v. 3801 (Crosshair VIII Hero wi-fi)

Hello Asus.

I just updated to latest BIOS (Version 3801) for my Crosshair VIII Hero wi-fi board, and ever since my board shows Q-code "9E" permanently while in Windows 10?

The manual states that 9E = "Reserved for future AMI codes".

System seems stable, but still i don't get why this occurs out of the blue, and what it really means?

Can confirm same thing here. Since upgrading to Windows 11 and enabling built in TPM, board now shows 9E instead of the AA it showed previously. Thanks for this thread as it came up immediately in my search for the "9E" code after the semi-recent BIOS update and update to Win 11.

good morning,

I have a Rog strix x570-E gaming wifi ll motherboard, I had the 0309 version of the bios and it still gave me the 9E Q-code error, I thought about updating the bios to the 4204 version but I see that there is always the problem. how can I solve this problem?
can i deactivate the TPM from bios? can someone tell me how to do it. thank you

Hello there, is it the "Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II" or the "Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi)" ?

Is your PC working fine ? If so 9E shouldn't be of any concern it just means that TPM is enabled

If you want to disable TPM anyway you can do it via BIOS

Go to your BIOS (by pressing multiple times F2 or Del. when you boot) after this go to "Advanced" tab you'll find a line named "AMD fTPM Configuration" go to it
Now you'll have the choice in "TPM Device Selection" between "Discrete TPM" and "Firmware TPM" and "Disabled" select the last one
Now Press "F10" and accept

Just updated to 40.01. Same code. The AA code was good as I always thought of it as "All Alright". 9E looks like an E 'error' code. Not a big fan of the constantly changing Q codes for temp. Anyways, I hope they fix it to go back.

There's nothing to fix with 9E, it's just the new code for "All Alright", see it like 9E is the new AA 😄

I don't believe asus designated E as an error code. It's just hex and it just provides the alphanumeric display with more codes, i.e. 0-10, A-F.
AA is functioning normal. 9E is functioning normal with TPM enabled.
