I wanted to update on the solution to my problem. First of all Asus Technical support was absolutely useless. No help at all. It appears to me that the mounting kit with the cooler could not possibly work. A new mounting kit replaced an older one. The newer part asetek # 35-150-1000056 employs plastic collars designed to use for both AM4 and AM5, you reverse direction of collars. This would not work in my application. No thread on standoffs would protrude above collar allowing thumb screws attachment. I was able to obtain the older discontinued mounting kit Asetek # 35-150-100015 on eBay, and it works perfectly. No plastic collars get in the way and the standoff height allows for installation of the cooler. You would think that over a month of back and forth with Asus Technical support (up to and including their CEO office complaint process) should of been able to identify this. No such luck. It was only after much online research that I discovered the older mounting kit, and decided to give it a try. My original post is still visible, I just could not add to it. I hope this can help someone in the future, because Asus Technical Support can not.
