Asus ROG LC III 360 grey material on CPU plate

I wasn't sure and didn't see anything about it  in the manual but noticed the grey material applied to the surface of the copper plate that is placed on the CPU.  Is this grey material to be cleaned off before application or does it stay on in addition to the thermal paste on the chip itself?

Hi @jkhonea

Thats the factory applied thermal paste, it’s to be left on. Do not apply any additional thermal application unless removing the cooler at a later date.

Thank you so much, I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure.  Greatly appreciate it!
