Make it your own: The ASUS 3D Printing Project

Bahz
Level 13
ASUS welcomes a new era of PC customization by being the first motherboard brand to support 3D-printable parts, an initiative that allows hobbyists, enthusiasts and modders to add unique modifications to their ROG Strix X99 Gaming and ROG Rampage V Edition 10 motherboards. These boards feature easily swappable parts, enabling passionate DIYers to design and 3D-print their own replacement name plates and logos in a variety of colors and materials to match their themed builds. This exciting development brings a whole new world of personalization to the DIY PC experience.

When the files will download ? 😉

They're still preparing them but they should be available shortly, I'll follow up with the team responsible for this project and will update you guys.

It feels like I'm hearing this from someone that's from the future 🙂

Awesome ideas, but since this project is just starting out I think it would be a little difficult to incorporate the ideas you suggested but for sure I'll pass them on to the correct team. I would really love to have a motherboard that looks like a really cool car engine. 😄

Thanks for the wonderful feedback!

Thanks for the reply!

That being said, it would be helpful if you/Asus could define what is within the scope of Asus's current capabilities for this initiative. That could be specific parts of the motherboard, dimensional constraints, the current plastic being used, etc.

Yes, I totally agree with you. It's our intention to clarify and provide as much details for the public, so I expect all of this info to be available in the near future.

I would love to see some automotive design themes integrated into motherboard aesthetics.

Not exactly ROG's techno-Mayan aesthetic, but cool none the less...

Awesome ideas, man. But I can't even fathom how you could've left out CHEVY !

For ages I've been trying to make myself a nameplate but always get issues when importing to Shapeways. I've used Maya and Free CAD.
If anyone can make a name plate for the z270 E with the word AZZATRU in RoG font and send it to me please that would be amazing, thanks a lot! 🙂

Hi there! I've managed to lose my logo from my gpu. I want to ask if any of you could and know if it's possible to print it 3d or if I could buy it somewhere online. I'm dissapointed to have it gone and I don't know what to do. I'll attach a photo of what I ask from you if you I wasn't explicit enough. Thanks a lot and I appreciate dearly. Have a good day!

Have you guys thought about what kind of design you would put on your motherboard? Would be awesome if we can have everyone share their vision of the perfect custom design for their motherboard.

Did start a new post on this subject, would love to see some files for the sabretooth x99 as well

Can you please upload the Ram Cooler 3d file for Sabertooth Mark 1???

That feature seems a little bit abandoned but i'm really interested in it and was wondering if there's a way to download some 3d model files for parts that hasn't been relased but that are shown in the pictures, such as the GPU Holders, the bottom motherboard cables shield, the RAM fan holder, etc...

Also... it would be awesome if there was some kind of 3d model of the motherboards itself ( in my case the x99Strix ) to design, measure and try some designs before printing.

Thank you!

Seems like Bahz just realized this feature would ruin all the "armored mobo" sales.

IS this dead though? I hope not and still waiting for the team to release all the specifics each mobo has so we can all start playing around the designs.
